I'd try the scent eliminator, then put it inside the deepfreeze for 48 hrs.

I've smoked in the stand, on the way to it, shared some with a few deer that were having a bad day and always have gotten a deer or two when I want to get one.

He11 as much as I fart in the stand, I still get deer to walk up on me.

Long before stands were popular, my Dad use to walk around in the woods smoking, find a trail or scrape, sit down, smoke, open a beer and wait a while and kill a deer.

Bow hunting is different. The magic word is WIND direction.

Marinading in febreeze at the moment. Probably put it in the freeze tonight, the sun tomorrow, and still wash it. lol.

The only thing I light up in the stand is deer that aren't in the stand. :-)

I think you are overthinking the hell out of this scent thing. I drink beer in my stand, eat, used to chew levi garrett, piss out the door, and I've killed plenty of deer. If you are carrying it in the case to the stand, what will you do if you see a big un while on your way? Just curious and not trying to be an arse, so don't take it that way.

I don't carry it to the stand in the case - someone else brought that up. I just don't want the tar/tobacco/whatever-smells rubbing all over the rifle and making it stink, too. For one thing, and to heck with the deer, I have to put my face near it and I don't smoke (except when I'm on fire).

I have put down many cigarettes right after throwing my beer cans out of the windows to pick up the gun for deer and hogs.

Sprinkle a little charcoal lighter fluid on it and burn it. The cigarette smell will be all gone.

You think if he rubbed Indian corn on his gun, it would get rid of that cigarette smell?

After a period of time the deer become acclimated to any smell. Same with sounds, once they have heard or smelled something for a period of time and there was no danger they soon accept it.

I've never had any animal get spooked by smoking, and I've had them approach while I've had them lit also. I've got a theory... I think the animals like it. They're like impressionable teenagers. They're attracted to smoking because all of the cool kids are doing it. Next time I'll throw one to a deer and see if they need a light. lol

Ok, so the deer are fine with it. Honestly, that's good to know. I don't want my rifle to smell like that when I put my face on it

Ya you may kill a deer while smoking and it may not seem to bother some, but its the ones you never see that you should be thinking about. How many of you guys that smoke in the stand have seen a mature buck or even doe for that matter? I have smoked in the stand for years but have recently come to the realization that the only times i have shot a mature animal is when i had not smoked yet on that particular sit. I dont think it bothers the younger deer because they just dont know any better. Just a thought.

I agree, you probally wont see the mature ones while smoking, as for the gun smelling like smoke Might be better to just get another case.
