What's the best way to get cigarette odor out of a rifle travel case's foam inserts? Is there a place to get cheap replacements?

Throw it away is the easiest.
My wife's only thing is it can't stare at her when she is eating or sleeping!

Well, got a good deal on a good hard case that I want for travel but really don't want to show up at the stand throwing cigarette smell everywhere. Not sure if any amount of doe pee could make that go away.

Try putting one of those baking soda boxes for fridges/freezers in it. ??
Is the foam removable? If so, I would lay them in the bathtub and gently "wash" them with 20 Mule Team powder, then dry really well in the sun.

Actually, it's looking like the price of the foam is the majority of the cost of any case up to $100.

Yup - it's removable. I'll try washing them in laundry detergent. Any specific reason for 20 mule team?

Cleans really well, without much detergent smell.

Cool. Sounds like a good thing to use on hunting socks when hot water alone just won't cut the cheese anymore. lol

it won't do any good to wash it unless your rifle case kicks the habit.

Unscented FeBreeze... Isn't that an oxymoron?

I thought about febreeze but I was concerned about residue. Probably shouldn't be. I can hose it down with febreeze, then wash it in laundry detergent.
Wouldn't a dryer sheet add additional deer repelling scents?

I would not worry about it too much. Do you carry the case with you to your blind?

Slightly dampen some crumbled up newspaper, add lumps of charcoal and place in case. Close it up change out daily and use fresh paper. Let the foam dry out between changes of the paper and charcoal. Going to take awhile, and with some foam it will never happen.

It'll rub off onto the rifle if I store it in the case, which is what I was hoping to do.

Maybe steam cleaning it? Steam cleaning usually leaves no scent.

Send it to me and I'll put the gun in the safe and the foam in the horse stall for a week and you'll never smell the smoke again.

Take the foam inserts out and set them outside in the direct hot sunlight for a day or two. The UV light will break down the smell. You will be surprised how well this works.

I smoke INSIDE the blind. I can't tell you how many times I've had to put a cigarette out, to pick up my rifle and shoot a deer.
Now, bowhunting would be different story.
But I wouldn't worry about it too much if your in a box stand.
Am I the only one who smokes in the stand? Come on guys, chime in!! Smokers Unite!!

Why?
I feed Indian Corn, the deer really seem to like it and stay at the feeder longer......and longer....!
