I guess personally I'm letting those big bucks go as long as possible and taking the culls as soon as possible.

What I have noticed is that "trophy" bucks are not always "dominant" bucks. The baddest buck is the one that does the most breeding. A nice pretty 4-5 yr 10 point can get his arse whipped by a 2.5 year old crab claw.

i take them during the rut...... and definitely wouldn't let a big one walk because you dont know when some idiot spotlighter will shoot it illegally, or it wander somewhere else and be killed by someone else
