During covid we did tend to say at home more, mainly because not much was going on. Because of this I didn't shave too often. After a while I got to like not shaving so I grew a beard. I've had it the last year or so & my wife has always said she didn't like it, but it was my face, so I kept. It began to bother me some in the heat last week so I shaved it off. My wife went 3 days & never noticed its absence. It was not until someone else pointed it out did she notice. Also, I play poker every week with some neighborhood buddies & they have never noticed or said a word. Anyone have a similar experience or maybe its just my face?

Nope, I look like a teenager with no beard. It is very noticeable on me. I remember when my Son was 3 or 4 I shaved it off and when I came out of the bathroom you would have thought I was a stranger. He wouldn't even come to me for a while because I looked so different. I also hate to shave so I keep a beard, but mine is always cut short to my face with a 1/8th guard on my clippers.

I'm one of those with beard envy. I couldn't grow a beard to save my life, so I stick with a goatee

Reminds me of the THF beard growing contest we had years ago. Wonder if that thread still exists?

Years ago, shaved off a moustache I'd had for about a year. Went downstairs, ate breakfast with the wife and three kids. No one noticed. Three hours later a visitor remarked about the absence of the moustache and the family went nuts laughing about not realizing it was gone.

I started growing my first one starting last October for NSN. I kept it until mid-December and it had to go. The itching finally got to. I wanted to grow one when I was younger, but I couldn`t because if my job. I changed careers when I was 47 and by then I was over it.

I had two finger widths that never would fill in before I got tired of messing with it. Over Covid, like you, I didn't shave much and they actually filled in. I bet I never shave it off. I hate shaving and this cuts my shaving down to a minimum...that's the only reason I have a beard. My wife doesn't like it shaggy but mine grows slow and I trim it about once a month...again, I hate shaving.

Last time I was without a beard was for Heart Surgery in 2018. Blood thinners and a small shaving nick bleeds forever.

First wife I had a mustache when we met, After we were dating for a while she ask me to shave it off so I did. First thing she said to me was put it back, said I looked younger than here and I was 4 years the eldest.

Spouse has had one since we got married.
He shaved it off once and our son cried, he was about 3 I think.
He usually trimmed it short for summer but 2 years ago I said let it grow and he has not trimmed the length since.
A little longer beard is more comfortable, not as scratchy.
He trims the sides though so he's not Grizzly Adams.

Beards are popular up here, not near as hot so folks keep them year round.
He says it is a game changer in winter , he walks to work even in the bitter cold.

I shaved mine off clean a few years ago. My wife walked in, looked at me with a look that I never want to see again, and refused to say a single word to me for over an hour. She was pissed. LOL. The first time my son saw me without a beard, he said "Dad, you look disgusting without a beard." I don't think I'll ever go clean shaven another day in my life.

This was the fullest I ever grew it. My wife absolutely does NOT like it this long.

Last time I shaved my beard my youngest Son looked at me and said "Dad, you look really silly right now. Why did you do that?" My little girl just looked at me and kept laughing. About to trim it down for the Summer but doubt I'll ever go clean shaven again.

Beard sure is turning gray though. crazy

Another couple of years, and I'll be able to pass for Santa!

I’m old and retired. Spent my whole life corporate, shaved daily, and had the suit and tie 5 days per week. I now usually shave when the wife starts mentioning it.

I grew what I could back when Phil Robertson quoted the Bible (correctly) regarding homosexuality and the media exploded. Guys started growing beards in support of him. Goatee is all that came out on me and I haven't shaved it since.

The wife appreciates that I keep it trimmed and I shave the rest daily. up I understand guys that don't need to for work get tired of shaving every day, but...I do think that's a step towards "letting the old man in." grin (Elk camp is a different story.)

Yep, had the same thing happen to me. Hadn't shaved since the day we laid Dad to rest in November and finally had enough of it. I literally had to call it out to the wife before she noticed and I don't think my 15yr old daughter has noticed at all.
