Gonna wrap a chain around the 10-inch diameter stumps and my f250. Good or bad idea?

My friend tried it with a Jeep, snapped his rear driveshaft in two. So, he stubbornly engaged his front axle and same results with his front driveshaft…..(:

Well, I have a little experience pulling stumps with a truck.
First off, they don’t just pop out of the ground. Most require some effort and there is a technique to it.
You end up getting them out with a series of small jerks, using the weigh of the truck to do the work.
You are not gonna tie up to it, put it in 4 low and drive off with the stump unless it’s just completely rotten.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Try and go find an old 22 or 24 inch diameter wheel. Wrap the chain around the trunk then run it over the rim and then hook to your vehicle. , It provides more 'up' dragging force than 'direct angle' pulling force.

There are some 4-inch stumps, I might just stick to those. You got me worried. I like the wheel idea.

You have a headache rack?
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

tannerite for the stump before you hook the truck up to it, tannerite after you hooked the truck up to it (for the truck you just destroyed)

Soaking the ground with more water couldn't hurt.

Pull from front tow hooks as well.

'PULLING' a tree stump can be done under the right conditions with no ill effects to your vehicle.
'Jerking' on a stump (or any other object offering a lot of resistance) is generally a bad idea.
IF the weight and traction of your vehicle is sufficient to dislodge a stump (roots cut and root ball properly relieved) then sure....pull away.
IF you expect to 'jerk' the stump from the ground with no prep and the stump will not come out any other way....then I'd say using your truck is a patently bad idea and you risk damaging it.
Spartans ask not...how many, but where!

Drill a couple of holes in it from the top with a long paddle bit, pour diesel on it several times a day letting it soak in and then set it on fire. It will burn for a while but there’s not much effort and no risk of damage to your vehicle.

It will burn for a while but there’s not much effort and no risk of damage to your vehicle. This along with 1/2 of a 55 gal barrel (hole in both ends.) Set barrel over stump add 10 lbs of charcoal then light on fire it will be gone.
