I have lived in East Texas a total of 12 years and have never seen a copperhead and I have been in the woods plenty. That has changed. I have killed 2 copperheads this week that have wormed their way into the school.

It's the coming out of the cicada's, supposed to be a double hatch this year. Around Longview, we see more when they are heaver than normal.

Any tree where cicadas climb to molt will become a copperhead magnet for the next couple of months. Tell the grounds keepers to mow and trim the grass very tight around tree bases close to where kids walk or play. The less cover they have the better.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.
