I am a student at Texas Tech and all my friends that I hunted with graduated last year. Was just wondering how many of you go hunting by yourselves? Looks like that is what I will be doing this season. Unless anyone needs a hunting partner in the area. wink wink

there's nothing like hunting with just yourself and your dog. I've got a ton of people to go with this year though. But I will be happy if I get a lone trip in.

x3, I love it as well, in fact I cherish it. I guess I havent had a chance to hunt alone enough. Last year I hunted a lot with groups, sometimes as many as 6 or 7 guys, that is fun too dont get me wrong, but you never know who shot what bird, not much peace and solitude that you get with hunting alone. Plus you hunt alone, you pick the spot, you set the deeks how you want, etc

Dealing with the rat race all week, I little peace and quite with your dog is nice every now and then. up

I have. I will again. Not all the time and not even most of the time, but from time to time.

Depends. I really enjoy hunting with my nephews and BIL the most. But when I can't get with them I'm hunting alone.

I hunt alone often, but I like it better when one of my boys goes with me.

Guess I just need to get out there and give it a try. I did a few dove hunts by myself this season and it definitely was nice to have some reflection time.

Exactly. There's a lot you can learn about yourself when you're out there with just you.

nothing like quality time outdoors, either shared by friends, or your dog.

Just be careful. If you're wading and it starts to get sticky don't push it. I hunt alone but I don't want to become a statistic.

That is a lot of the reason I normally hunt with one other person. Just in case.

Heck, I'm not sure why I'm really worried about it. Barney is guaranteed to setup 50 yards away in case I get into trouble... hammer

I hunt alone during the early part of the season, I love it. The other guys on my lease don't get started good until December, so I have the place mostly to myself the month of November.

funny you should mention that. Mya and I were trekking along early teal, and ran into some much that almost sucked my waders off. She was none too happy sinking up over her belly

Well at least hunting alone you know who spooked them. You, unless you look over and your lab is on her back legs looking over the brush! Been there!!!

Abe,

Keep visiting the forum, you should be able to find someone in your area you share a hunt with.

I hunt ducks alone most of the time, but if there are any folks that are looking for hunting partners around CS for public land hunts anywhere south of Corsicana (but not Somerville-don't get me started), I'd be happy to have you hunt with me.

Yup, as said above, just take extra safety precaution when hunting alone, and always let someone know where you will be. If you want, you can PM gps coordinates where you will be hunting, and if I dont hear back from you Ill send helicopters. grin

Ill never forget one of the first times I hunted alone. It was public, and my wife was giving me an earful about it the night before about how crazy I am. And next morning driving to the lake 3:00AM in the morning, Im thinking to myself that dang, I am a bit nutz. No one to talk to, I put AM radio on, and I find myself listing to wackos talk about being abducted by aliens. Well that was a bit creepy, but then the long walk thru the woods to the marsh was even more creepy, especially with a crappy head lamp. Half way thru my hike in the middle of the woods thur the trees, I see a glow off in the distance, and wondering if it could be an alien space ship eek2. This was a tight wooded trail, and about that time something flew right in front my face, not sure what it was but it was big like a hawk or something, and skart the livn piss out of me!! grin

I try to get a few in by myself every year. Being out there with just the dog is my favorite. Its always nice to be out with buddies, but every once in a while you just need time to be by yourself and reflect on life. What better way then out in the woods!
