I like to get up and eat some donuts and take my time to get ready then head out. I would guess about 30min before day light.

Thanks, Jigfish

Depends on where I am hunting, and how... bow hunting, I actually don't get there much earlier, but I am much quieter getting there, so I need to leave camp earlier... walking about 1/4 mile very slowly and quietly.

Gun Season, east texas, as early as possible, at least an hour before sunrise

Gun Season West Texas, depends on the stand, wide open places, early early...

Dark western slopes/canyons, I will sometimes find a peak and watch the sunrise and what's below it before moving in to the darker valley and stand...

I plan to wake my fiance up an hour an a half before daylight...roll back over go to sleep for another 30 minutes, get up take the dogs out to potty...prolly do the same while outside, come back in, get dressed, brush teeth, put a dip in my mouth, wait for fiance to finish getting her survival pack together, then hopefully can get in the truck make the short drive and be on the stand about 15 minutes before daylight.

I like to get there 30 minutes or so before shooting light, and then listen for that 1st shot. The 1st shot of the season... Once you hear that you know it's on for the next couple months. In my neck of the woods though I normally hear at least 1 shot well before shooting light lol!!!

Seems like every year there is always at least one shot fired way before it's legal shooting hours. I don't even want to think about why!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I hate walking up to the stand and hear deer running off.

Also the first morning just listen to all the noise if you have hunters on neighboring ranches, as you'll hear vehicles starting up and driving on the roads, car doors and tailgates slamming, and people talking, and radios off in the distance.

Makes you wonder why anyone ever sees any deer with all the racket they make on opening weekend!

I will say though, there is nothin cooler than the sound of gun shots echoing in the distance.

I camp about an mile away from my blind. Will generally get up at four or so and walk to the blind. We try to make no noise at all and won't even use the flash lights unless we need to. Some people I hunt with make fun of me sometimes but I have yet to hear that sound of deer running off.
