I've got it and have put it through a full dove season and quite a few skeet shoots. I've had no problems with it cycling 2 3/4 shells, even the light loads. The gun is great. I love mine.

Here's a good article about the Vinci.
http://www.randywakeman.com/VinciInDepth.htm

I would like to get a dedicated 12ga for ducks/geese. I like the Vinci but I really like the new Browning Maxus too. If I had to choose today, I think I would get the Maxus.

I have a Beretta 391 Gold 12ga which I use for ducks but that gun is really too nice to take to the duck blind (although I do it). I would really like to have a 12ga gun with a synthetic stock in black or camo for duck hunting.

Yeah I am mainly looking for an awesome dove hunting gun I can use for the rest of my life. I want to buy something good but will not pay more then 1200. I also looked at the Remington 1187 and the extrema 2 is nice just a little heavy

I have an Extrem 2. The thing sweet and never have had a jam up even with light loads(over 1000 rounds through it so far). I don't know about the Vinci, but I know that most SBEIIs do not cycle light loads very well.

Put the Winchester SX3 on that list. There are a lot of great guns and if I was using something to be primarily a dove gun with waterfowl as 2nd I would want a gas gun and not an inertia gun. The gas guns will be easier on your shoulder.

I would opt for the 391 Urika 2 over an Extrema unless you are going to use the 3.5" chamber. There are a lot of those 3.5" chambered gun that don't like the 2 3/4" light loads that you might use for the dove.

I have read way to many 11-87 nitemares to consider one...although I have never owned one personally.

My auto list depending on what you want would be Benelli, Beretta, Winchester and Browning (Browning and Win are essentially the same gun). There are other great guns but your odds on getting a bad one with those 4 manufacturers are slim to none, in my opinion.

Go pick up a bunch, shoulder them and buy which one you like the feel of and fits.

yea the vinci feels awesome, i like the lighter gun especially if I am going to shoot dove mostly. my buddies extrema 2 cycles 2 3/4 with no problems but yeah I know alot of them dont cycle light loads well. I do not see myself ever using 3.5

2 3/4" 1 1/8oz loads are going to be no problem for any Benelli. When you get to 1oz loads you might have issues if they are slow loads...but if they are over 1200fps you should be ok. When it comes to steel loads I've shot tons of 1oz loads and even 7/8oz loads out of my SBEII and never had issues but steel loads are always pretty fast.

For most the standard dove load is 1 1/8oz so there won't be an issue anyway. For those that worry about recoil and want to shoot lighter slower loads a benelli probably isnt for you.

After reading those reviews posted on both the Vinci and Browning both seem like they have some great features. Of the two I'd get the browning since the Vinci is only in a 3". However if the Vinci was 3.5" I would take it over the Browning. The advantage the Browning has is that felt recoil is going to be very light. Based on the review the Vinci isnt too bad either in the recoil department...and for me recoil has never been an issue for hunting.

The way the Vinci is made it sounds like that gun could run forever and could very well be the most dependable semiauto shotgun ever made. I love how the review kind of broke down the things that matter and don't matter...he kind of busts on Benelli for focusing on stuff in the ads that don't matter.

yea I dont need 3.5 at all. the browning also seems to be a good reliable gun but I dont need 3.5 so thats only reason I dont see myself getting it. I want a REAL GOOD 3 inch shotgun that shoots 2 3/4. I dont mind paying 1200 but wont pay more. my brother is getting a new 870 express but I just dont want a pump and money is more an issue with him. I want to get a gun that will last me and be reliable.

The Vinci is probably the best 3 inch gun out there....if you can stand the look of that ugly thing.

...well, it will be the best until the 3 inch Browning Maxus comes out after the first of the year.

I don't see the point of making the Maxus in 3" when they have it in 3.5". Maybe you could save $100? Personally I would get the 3.5" even if I don't shoot 3.5". It's better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it. You never know when you might be low on shells during a goose hunt or something and need to borrow a few. Chances are everyone else will be shooting 3.5"ers.

Marc, I agree 100%. And yes, I believe the 3 in Maxus is about 100-150 bucks cheaper. It's kinda like 4WD on a truck. It's better to have than not have, cuz you never know when you're gonna need it. (I do use mine BTW)

The clay guys is the reason...they shoot real light loads some of them (myself included) shoot 7/8 oz 12ga shells. I would be shocked if a 3.5" gun would cycle my clay rounds reliably.

When I bought my SX3 I could've bought the 3.5" but wanted to use it as a backup clay gun too so bought the 3".

To the original poster...sounds like you need to buy the Vinci. Why haven't you yet? wink

I don't really seeing it as a gun the clay only people would really go after. As for the 7/8oz loads...I'm not sure but from the review I think they said 1oz were no problem.

Why not? I haven't held or seen one in a store so I am curious why you think that. The Gold and Silvers are used quite a bit. They aren't as popular as the 391's but I do see some.

When I don't use my o/u I use a SX3 and I have only seen a few of those out there...more gold and silvers for sure.

I look at it more as a hunting gun. And most clay guys I know are shooting O/Us often in 20s or less.

All those guys bash that gun confused2 That thing looks sweet if you ask me, and if they've made something better than my X2 all I have to say is wow. I will say that I think $1600 is too much, 1300-1400 ok but $1600 really. That's trying to get every last penny out of each one you sell rather than lower the price a bit and sell 3x as many guns. Makes no sense to me.

Brett I don't even know what gun you are talking about but if 1600 is the MSRP then you will most likely be able to get it in the 1400-1500 range.
