It work's. For those of you that say it doesnt, are yall bow hunters? If you are have you tried it? Obviously the wind is your best friend when hunting, but if you hunt enough you will find it doesnt always do what it's supposed to do. At this point (wind changes direction) you either hang it up for the day, or you have taken the proper step's to ensure your hunt doesn't end.

Has anyone farted while wearing scent-lok gear? If you can smell it...Then it doesn't work 100%.

Fish don't care how much you spend on a fishing rod.

Wind is the key no matter what you are wearing.

Really??
Nuthin is 100%, but 90% of the time a deer is down wind of me while wearing scent-lok, they are already well in bow range!!!
Also, I have seen the wind change in 3 different directions within an hour on one hunt. Sooooooooooooo, sometimes playing the wind isn't an option.
Don't knock it till you've tried it, just sayin!!!

Since Friday afternoon, I've had over 30 deer within 50 yards of my stand.. Yep, I'm bowhunting... Yep, the wind swirled.... Nope, no Scent Lok suits.. I agree that you can't always win with the wind.. But it's amazing what a shower, clean clothes, and a little precaution will do for ya..
As Cbump said- How did the guys kill deer before there were scent lok suits ?
Do they work?? Maybe..
But are the absolutely necessary?? You decide.

To clear it up, yes you are a genius and wind is the best tool. For anyone that does not understand, wind blows scent in the direction it is moving. If you are as smart as this guy you can have 3 or 4 tree stand's looking at one spot and predict the wind before it changes, maybe jump silently like a ninja to the proper stand and not scare anything off. For those of us without that ninja ability: You can take off those days from work and depend on the wind doing what your ninja instincts tell you, and if it doesn't; except the fact that you took time off for nothing. Or be prepared and still have a chance.
Wind is always a factor and in the ideal situation works great. I don't think many people kill the buck of their dreams in an ideal situation. You may see deer even if you aren't wearing scent lok, and not taking scent precautions....But what would you have seen if you did?

You must hunt with a long bow. If you didn't you would understand that technology in the hunting field has done wonders. Maybe what I am saying is to use it as a precaution, or is that what you said?

honker jake you are wasting your time trying to convince that dude of anything. You see, he has never tried the product, yet can tell you all about it. Even scent-lok can't cover the scent of arrogance.

I have no mule in this race. So it doesn't matter if you believe this or not but in August the pro staffers of Scent Lok gave a deposition on federal court proceedings.

You can read about it here. http://www.bowhuntingtalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=14221&sid=622d43a0644206f2d356d6155c3ecb3a

[quote=sqiggy][quote=cbump] Got busted at 20 yds with Scent-lok, but deer never ran off. They stood there nervously till they moved off to my left and got out of my wind and stayed there at 20 yds for the next 45 mins. These were all does. Had a buck come directly downwind few minutes later and never noticed.
That in a nutshell is what scent-lok will do for you. The deer will smell something but in most cases it is not alarming. In legal terms, will it cover 100% of your odor, no it will not. Does it work 100% of the time? No it will not turn you into a supernatural scentless creature. It will greatly increase your ability to get a deer in close w/o the deer blowing and completely ruining your hunt.

You did not read what the Scent Lok pro staffers said in their deposition http://www.bowhuntingtalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=14221&sid=622d43a0644206f2d356d6155c3ecb3a

If their prostaff cannot say it is as good as the company says it is, then you have to factor in what is lies and what is the truth.

Thanks dogcatcher. That is the before mentioned lawsuit. Lee and Tiffany, who are getting paid to wear the stuff even said it didn't work.

And no one said I didn't take scent precautions. I wash my clothes in scent away detergent, use the body wash and deodorant, put my clothes in a bag with wafers, etc.

Why are the guys that use it getting mad?

No sir Jake,
I hunt with a new Martin.. About a month old. If you'll read my opening post, you'll see that I recognize the value in ANYTHING that makes you a more confident hunter..
I personally believe that the high dollar suits are a waste of money.. Why is that so hard to accept?
I don't think they are necessary to get deer in close..
No one knows from one day to the next which smells will alarm a deer. I've had them under me while wearing blue jeans and a camo t shirt.. I've had them run off at 50 yards while in full camos. You just don't know.
It's one thing for you guys to defend your belief in the suits..
It's something all together different for you to say that they're the only way to get within 20 yards of deer..

My only contention is this - If you took the same precautions and scent stopping measures with any clothes, would you get the same results that you do with Scent Lok suits?
I say you could and will..

lets not forget that 90% of this is mental anyway.

we sit in a blind or a tree trying to stay quiet, stay still, stay awake, and stay alert all at the same time.
this while we try our best to breath through our nose, not think about using the bathroom, hope our ears and eyes will stop playing tricks on us... that stump sure looks like a deer...

my point is that we have so many variables at play, nothing is going to work all the time.

but if wearing a suit of camo or scentlok makes someone more confident and less likely to make a poor decision in the field, then more power to them.
i am certainly that way with new basketball shoes, a new golf club, a new broadhead, a new whatever...
the old one will likely still get the job done, but we feel better using the new item to get the job done.

seems like some on this forum want to label others and put us into small factions instead of a diverse group of hunters who love our great state and the bounty of game it has to offer.

for the record
i have some scentlok stuff, but mostly i use the cheapy stuff from academy since i dont like to spend extra money.
i have been 5 yds from deer and been busted at 75 yds, so i will not claim to have answers, only precautions.

Stuff my dad said in the deer blind

"I can dive deeper and come up drier"
"did you do that?"

Over priced by far, but if your a big timer and got the dough, I'm sure those cool logos will make you look great at the deer camp....

and you can buy some of that Under Armor Cold gear too, then you will be the schiznit.... Actually I really like the UA stuff but just can't bring myself to spend that kinda cash on some underwear or anything else they make

While the company is laughing all the way to the bank.

You did not read the depositions by the Scent Lok pro staffs, did you? If the company's pro staff says it doesn't work why spend money on it?

If you go the extra "10 miles" to prepare a scent-loc suit to wear, I believe that it sure helps. When people wear their regular boots, hat, belts, etc. they are not helping matters. I see some guys that think they are really sent free and wear boots that smell worst than sh**. I don't own a single sent-loc item, however, I have the luxury of going hunting almost every day. I just choose a stand based on wind/weather. Wash your clothes and your body. Always be mindful of items such as boots, gear bags, and bow; i.e. your nasty sweat dried bow handle. As far a sent eliminating spray, I use it but don't have much faith in it. Oh, using baking soda works great.

Has anyone ever used the silverthread and antimicrobial stuff? I hear that it works very well and it is much cheaper than Scent-Lok. I have never used any of the scent control materials.
