Who on here dips in the stand. I know, I know, the big thing here these last few years is,"you gotta be scent free or you aren't going to see anything.", but my dad said he used to smoke and have bucks come right up and stay there. I've found that dipping has caused me no harm. Just wanted to get a feel of the different sides to this debate. If you haven't tried em' yet, the Camel Snus is great. The frost flavor tastes great, but the mellow flavor to me is the best. It tastes just like levi garret, but you don't have to spit. Again, just curious. I'm gonna dip regardless!!!!
Well, what I mean by that, sir, is... if you was to put me and this here sniper rifle anywhere up to and including one mile of Adolf Hitler with a clear line of sight, sir... pack your bags, fellas, war's over. Amen.--SPR[image]

Cover scent salespeople won't like this, but I don't think dipping or even smoking makes very much of a difference. My buddy shot his first bow deer last year. To do so, he had to put his cigarette down so he could draw his bow back. This was for a 15 yard shot from a ground stand.
Picture removed. clowns creep me out.

Off topic a bit -- I quit chewing several years ago, but was really wondering what that snus was all about. My vote is keep on keeping on. Good luck!

Do it every time I am out in the blind. I even spit out the window. We have to play the wind, so if they smell snuff, they will smell me. It doesn't matter.
If you shoot a young deer because a neighbor will shoot it, you are that neighbor.

One of the guys I hunt with did that, but I think he held the cancer stick in his mouth when he shot.

Sometimes I wonder if it will get to the point you bring an attorney with you out hunting.

My brother-in-law deer hunted one time in 2006 and one time in 2007. Both times he shot a buck within 100 yards with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. 2006 deer 2007 deer Neither are great deer but both are good deer. These two deer have really decreased the importance of scent in my book.

Would not go to blind with out it. x2 x3 and have gotten to the stand after daylight b/c of having to stop multiple times to find my brand. Have tried the snus at school, but I doubt with 3 in that it is much better for me than a regular pinch.

I think its all baised on situation. I smoke in the blind..all the time. If the wind isn't blowing or isnt blowing in their direction, OR I'm in a tower blind and I can see me smoke going way up in the air, I don't care. The deer don't usually care. Doe's don't care. But if its one of those windy [censored] post cold front days where the deer are jumping around everywhere...I'll keep it to a minumum.

I dip almost continuosly while hunting. I spit straight on the ground hunting from brush blinds, even the bow blind. When I fill up my feeder or check the camera I dip and spit just the same as if I were hunting dove. The deer don't care. The biggest buck I've killed I had a broken leg. I pulled up to the feeder and was sitting in a crew cab white ford pickup, eating summer sausage, smoking a ciggarete, and sippin' a whiskey drink. He walked literally 15 yards in front of the pickup I plastered him, then crutched out to him and gutted him. He was 5.5 years old.

I don't dip, but I believe I've had to put down a cigarette for just about every deer I've killed from 10 yards out. I don't think it bothers them at all. I do keep my butts in a mason jar because the "ashtray" smell is even offensive to me. I can imagine what it smells like to a deer.

Heck I keep a 5 gallon bucket in my blind and even drop a load while I'm hunting. It seems to me folks are so worried about scent and the deer these days. If I was that worried, I would stay out of my blind all season, that way they would never smell me.
I feed Indian Corn, the deer really seem to like it and stay at the feeder longer......and longer....!

JDavis x2 My Dad has smoked in the blind for the past 30 years and never had a problem with big bucks coming in and having to set his smoke down to take the shot. I always have my Copenhagen with me and have shot some nice 130-140 class deer. I say shot and people think 150 yards. I hunt 11 acres and my feeder is 25-30 yards from my blind. I dont think it bothers them.

I think it's all about what they are used to. I dip in my stand but I also spit around my feeder. Me and a buddy were filling my feeder the other day and spitting all over the place. I dropped a half bag of corn on the ground. the deer came in and cleaned it out about 3hrs after we left based on the cam pics.

i agree, both me and my dads first deer taking last year, we both had to put down our cigarette before taking the shot!

My dad and I have joked for years that as soon as you light up either buck steps out or the waitress brings your food! that was when you could still smoke in a resturant.
