Just shot my Wolf for the first time and WOW!!! What a fun gun. When sighting in your muzzle, how often do you clean the bore out? After about 2 shots, my rounds were really hard to load. Also, do you oil the barrel between shots?
thanks in advance

I can usually shoot three shots before either cleaning or at least running a patch through the barrell using Pyrodex pellets. No oil, it is recommended to fire a cap or two through the barrell when first using after cleaning to clear any residu of oil. bg

No oil is recommended in order to start bullets, as it may reduce the pressure needed to give you an accurate shot. However, although not recommended, I have used Bore Butter on sabots before, and did not notice any negative effect. Get a "bullet starter" if you don't already have one. It is a short-stem device that will push the bullet down into the barrel so that you can use your ramrod.
Frequent shooting, you should swab the barrel periodically; with the Wolf, you should swab it at least after every 2nd shot, and, as stated above, do fire a 209 primer to clear the barrel of oil residue!
When you are finished shooting, clean the gun thoroughly - remove the breech plug, soak it in solvent, and be sure to clean the "hole" with a hole pick. Use some breech plug grease before putting it back into the gun.

if you're going to shoot again, you can do like the old-timers and use a spit patch.works good and your spit is free and you always have it with you. . . .

No oil, it is recommended to fire a cap or two through the barrell when first using after cleaning to clear any residu of oil. bg I do the exact same thing with my CVA Firebolt only with Powerbelt bullets....with your Wolf, your barrel should have a recessed crown barrel too, so if you were to switch to the Powerbelt, you can push the bullet far enough in with your thumb to use the ramrod. Just an Idea to throw out there...it seems to work well for me for follow-up shots.

When I'm sighting in or shooting for accuracy I swab and dry after every shot. I want the barrel to be like it will be with the first shot when hunting. When I'm shooting at the range I take a gallon milk jug with water in it to use when swabbing. Most of my shooting is done with a patched ball. However, I have used a home brewed cast bullet and sabot for a "quick" reload after the first shot at game.:)
