I am so ready for quail season to start. I too, am having trouble finding enough birds to hunt. CuzTheyFly, I love that shot of you and your Brittany. I have a Brittany and have been practicing with her for awhile now. She does good on pointing the birds IF we can locate coveys. I've never posted pics but I'll try to get some.

CCbirddogMan,

Great looking Brittanies, every one of them. Where do you hunt your birds?

Luv2hunt I see that you are located in Matador. That is one of my bird areas. Sorry to hear you are not seeing many birds out there. I did jump 4 nice coveys last wkend on my lease, so maybe there will be enough to make it interesting.

Since I will have successfully missed bow season I can't wait to get out to the lease. Hopefully this year will be better than last. There is nothing better than leaving straight from the chaos of the office and being in the middle of nowhere with your dogs and plenty of silence....

I am looking for a reasonably priced guided place to do an upland bird hunt near Fort Worth. I heard about Greystone and that the hunting was really good, but the prices seem a little high. Any suggestion? If you can provide a website link too that would be great. Thanks!

I am so pumped and ready to get out there with my 2 Shorthairs, I got a new pup an this will be his first season and I am very excited to get out there an hunt. I go to the Matador, but if i cant make it up there I go to Upland Bird Country in Corsicana, Steve Stroube runs the place an he does a great job for a pretty good price.

Say When.....

I called a wildlife biologist up in cottle county the other day, and they said that the matador was reporting a nice amount of birds. So tomorrow im gonna call the wildlife biologist that actually works on the matador, and ask them.

I called Matador yesterday, and they said they counted 1 bird per route this fall. Not good.

We're ready already made a trip to Montana to warm up. Getting good reports on the lease out west. looks like it may be a good year for Blues.
