They are a big help when spotlighting or in low light situations.
ACOGs make great optics for riding around at night whacking varmints.

I think they are great for all hunting in the darkness. I have a Burris electro dot and a Leupold tactical. I like the variable brightness levels.

I am saving my pennies for a trijicon accupoint in 1x4x24 to mount on my new Ruger SR-556. I have never owned a trijicon, but they have an awesome reputation. I will be using it to pop hogs and coons at night.

Well you'll still have to have a source of light to feed the fiber optics longarm. It doesn't glow in the dark on it's own.
What I don't get is how come the 4 power costs more than a 3x9

I am pretty sue that the accupoint uses fiber optics and tritium. The tririum is a gas that doesn't require a light source.
