I go to Cabelas more often, simply because it is closer to my home. I really have a hard time deciding as to which of them is better, I guess it would depend on what a person was going after. JMO.

I like Cabela's because of the Bargin Cave. Some real good deals in there.

That is TOOOO dangerous a place for me to go into, the used gun rack is bad enough, but me and Lora prowling around in the Bargain Cave, that is just not healthy, for our bank account at least.

If you are going to just look around, Cabela's is the better place. If you want to buy something - it all depends on what you want to buy (get online and check the prices of both stores). BPS will match prices. BPS is a lot closer to Forney than Cabela's; I live in Rowlett and I hate the drive out to Cabela's.

I can't wait for the BPS to open up in Garland. One of my son's friends applied for a job their last week and said they are opening up on November 16th!!! I hate having to drive all the way to Grapevine to get something Academy or Walmart doesn't carry. I have to stop into Big Buck everytime to have a couple of beers though. It makes the trip alot more tolerable.
Cabelas is just way too far for me.

Cabela's.... Seems to have a better selection for the hunter in me.

Also doesn't hurt that it is 3 miles from the house and I drive by every day to/from work!

I live in Frisco so BPS is a lot closer.....but Cabela's really has some cool stuff to just "look" at. That is a far drive though! Gander Mountain in Sherman is closer for me!

My bass club meets at Cabelas every second Tuesday so I get there more often.

For bass fishing I think BPS is the winner hands down, but for hunting and reloading I think Cabelas edges out BPS.

I went out to Cabela's during the summer looking for a particular type of shirt in a certain camo pattern. They didn't have it so I drove to BPS and they had it. Cabela's stocks hunting clothing based on the time of year - just like Academy. BPS stocks hunting clothes for all seasons - all year long. I don't like to have to wait until right before the season starts in order to purchase clothing. Once the new BPS opens, I'll shop there exclusively.

Gander Mountain is less than 20 minutes from me. Bass Pro is about 45 minutes, and I would rather drive over an hour to go to Cabellas.

I know it wasnt an option, but Sportsmans Warehouse gets my vote as favorite- I have found them to have good prices as well. Its kinda like going to an old-school hardware store vs Home Depot or Lowes. Otherwise Cabelas over BP and Gander Mtn. Nice to have the choices we do these days.

I've bought at both but can tell about a recent call I made to Cabelas. Forty pound bags of corn at BPS were (maybe still is) $3.23 per bag. Academy was $3.86. I was going to be going by Cabelas so I called them. They wanted somewhere around $4.40. I told the guy that they were too high and told him about the competitors prices. He put me on hold and contacted the Manager. When he returned, he told me they would match the Academy prices but not BPS. I haven't done a comparison on anything else but it is hard to forget that one.

I go with Cabela's every time. Hands down. I will add that I was in Spokane, Washington last week and stopped in at the Sportsman's Warehouse there. I have been drooling over some new Nikon Monarch ATB 10x42 binocs. They had just gotten a shipment in that day and had only received on pair and they were camo (I wanted the black/green). I was talking to the guy behind the counter and asked him if they had any that weren't camo and he immediately told me that he would sell me the camo binocs for $299. That was a pretty decent discount so I bought them. Needless to say, I enjoyed my time at Sportsman's Warehouse very much and will be shopping there whenever I am near one.

ps - While there I pulled out the Swarovski EL's, a set of Leica's and the Nikon's. I have read on here that there isn't a difference between the Nikon glasses and the Swarovski or Leica glasses. Wrong. There is a distinct difference.........just not a $1,550 difference.
