I shot 3 doe opening weekend with the 2 blade Rage. I only found 2 of 3. Both were good shots, taking out both lungs, that neveer bled a drop for about 400 yards. Im shooting a Hoyt Vectrix at 70 lbs, with the small diameter beman arrows. I didnt find the 2 until the nexxt morning and both had covered between 800-1000 yards. Just wondering if anyone else has had such luck. From what it looked like, the tips didn't open. Not impressed at all. Where around the north side of Houston do ya'll get the slick tricks?
Dozer, mulched, and trackhoe work. Fencelines, senderos, tanks. Let me know if I can help with any dirtwork or construction.

I used to shoot Thunderhead 125 grains on aluminum arrows, and have never not had a pass through. No pass throughs yet with the Rage.

Are you sure you made good shots? Any animal that has both lungs colapse will die way before 800-1000 yards. Broadhead doesn't matter for that.

A deer that has been hit in both lungs won't make it that far.

That is what I thought, until I trailed them that far. One of them was still standing 2.5 hours later, though stumbling and falling a good bit. It looked like I had shot her with field tips.

use to shoot rage, now I shoot muzzy MX3s.. I liked the punch the rages gave, on the other hand hated how the blades would fall when walking in the woods.

I really like the Steel Force Sabertooths, wicked blades. I also like the Montecs. If you look up Steel Force Sabertooths on youtube, you'll see where a guy took about a 25yard shot and almost had complete pass through on a hog.

A deer that has been hit in both lungs won't make it that far. I agree, something is not adding up. The doe I shot opening weekend left no blood trail. She was shot through both lungs. No blood trail was needed because I saw her go down 20 yards from where I shot her with a rage 2 blade. Where these new out of the package? If you are not happy with the rage go with Slick Trick Razor Tricks, that is the only broadhead I will use besides rage.

something sounds fishy, I have shot several deer with Rage 2 blades, I have been able to sit an watch them go down. NONE have gone more then 40 yds. The hole they make is huge.

check out gander mtn. if you don't see them out ask the archery guys if they have them behind the counter. the gander on the NW side keeps em behind the counter because they can't keep them in stock.

You probably have some of the ones with the old blades in them that were recalled last year. The slip cams were not manufactured correctly and they did a recall. They also did a recall for the ones with the c pin, all the new ones have a coil pin that holds the blades in place. Send them in and they will send you new ones. They no doubt have had some quality control issues but they are still the best head for bloodtrails on the market, I do wish another company would make a higher end version of the rage with better quality blades, and tolerences. I have used both rage and slick tricks, both will kill a deer fine if you put it where your supposed to. The main difference I have noticed between the two is slick tricks have terrible blood trails, rage make trail a blind person could follow. Just look at the cutting diameter between the two, slick tricks cutting diameter is just too small IMO, with rage your margin for error is much greater.

I dont have video on the pig i shot, but it was a clean pass thru! Here are some pics of a doe i shot last year at 30yrds with the same set up. She was quartering away hard... But i got both lungs and a complete passthru, even cut through a few ribs, she didnt run 50yrds. Im not saying ur BH's suck or anything, i just feel like you just cant beat a 2-blade rage. I feel they have all their kinks worked our for the most part, and any error with the blades opening up are mostly user error. Just make sure they are tightly seated behind the o-ring before u draw!!!! Also i feel that everyone at one time or another makes mistakes or will get a little too excited and the 2-INCH gutting... i mean cutting diameter is very forgiving!

Yep, I was shocked the first time I saw a deer taken with a 2 blade rage. The damage was absolutely massive, you have to really see it to believe.

I was hunting with rage 3 blade last thanksgiving weekend and had one of the biggest bucks I have ever seen in person walk in. Broadside at 23 yards, I go to drawback and one of the blades opened. Not going to risk a shot with a half deployed broadhead. Rage 3 blade cost me a shot on quite possibly the biggest buck I have seen.
I will never hunt with a Rage again.
I have been sucessfully using G5 Strykers and I am going to try some Slick Tricks this weekend.

My wife shot two boars this weekend, one a 150 pounder and got a pass thru shooting the 2 blade rage. She pulls 45#. The other was a 225 pound boar and the arrow went in about 12". The first boar made it about 50 yards before it ran out of air, the big one made it about 40. Both entry holes were wicked cool massive. Now I don't like shooting Rage's at boars and have lost several in the last 2 years, and prefer Muzzy's or Magnus, but Rage is what she had. I've whacked some big hogs and lost them, but I have ultimate confidence in Rage with deer as long as your blades are tight in the O ring.

I quit using muzzy's once I found steel force. They were ok when there were nothing else on the market imo. There are just better heads out there today. Just my opinion.

I have no experience with the rage but have used the Spitfire for over 10 years and have never had a problem. I get pass through shots on Kansas whitetails which are 2 to 3 times the size and weight of most of our Texas whitetails and very thick skinned compared to our warm weather deer. And yes deer can cover a lot of ground with both lungs shot through, its the exception but I shot a doe with a thunderhead 125 about 15 years ago and double lunged her. I have never seen so much blood as she spun a 180 degree turn and headed back to cover. I tracked that deer over 600 yds, she bled all of the way. To me doe's because of there maternal instincts to lead their young away from harm will cover a lot more ground than most bucks. Have heard a lot of good things about the slick tricks as well.

If deer goes 1000 yards it was not double lunged. It just doesn't work that way.
