Went out to the deer lease today to refill the feeder. Checked the ground as soon as I got there. No a single piece of corn on the ground. What I did see was tons and tons of turkey sign, the dozens of turkey droppings, wing feathers, feathers of all odd shapes and sizes. I also found doe and buck droppings. More buck droppings than does.

I refilled the feeder and could hear a flock of turkeys in the mesquites, talking to each other. I heard all sorts of turkey sounds. I had them gobbling, putting, put-putting, chirping, etc. It started thundering and the gobblers would gobble back to the thunder. That was pretty funny. I stood in one place for a solid hour just listening and watching. Never saw the turkeys but heard at least one flock of them fly up to roost. It was an awesome sound, the wind coming over all of those wings at the same time. Awesome. I must have been accidentally standing within 80 yards or so of a major roost.

Can't wait for deer/turkey season to start. Looks like its going to be a great year.

Be kind with your words, thankful to your Creator and generous with the meat from your hunt.
