ok you know how some people catch wild hogs and cut there nanas off and relase them and they get really big because they have no other interst in life but to eat right. ok heres what i was thinking, get a young buck a do the same with his nanas, cut um off. if everything was to work out the buck would eat more food "protien" all year and would care about the rut so no caleries burning that time of the year. so with the buck eatting more protien and food wouldnt that produce a larger buck with larger racks. i am open to what yall have to say and yalls comments on this.

Testosterone is produced by the testicles. No testicles, no testosterone. No testosterone, no antlers, or very small antlers.

There's a good chance it would grow non typical antlers but never come out of velvet. Interesting concept!

coolie76... Love the blast from the past in your sig. BTW, I tend to agree you. Antler growth is controlled by testosterone.

1st of all, dont get caught doing it!
That would make the buck a stag and it would stay in velvet the rest of it's life. The antlers would continue to grow but at a much slower rate then a buck with his family jewels in tact. A lot of times it does produce non-typical type antlers as the deer will most certainly injure them from time to time causing bends, brakes, and thus non-typical points to form off of them.
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

We have these kind of deer in Llano country. They are usually non-typical and never lose their antlers, always in velvet. Usually have a LOT of mass and tines coming off their bases. Not much to speak of for the rest of their antlers.
I shot one that had what could only be described as a "glob" of antler that looked like it had been poured down the side of his head and hardened. No points.

A buddy of mine a few years back castrated a buck with a .270 that was standing facing him.
We tracked that buck about 4 miles, and lost the blood trail, and had to get the dogs.
We found it finally late that day near a stock tank still alive and had to finish it off, and I still can't believe that deer went that far with all the blood it lost.

Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Testosterone is produced by the testicles. No testicles, no testosterone. No testosterone, no antlers, or very small antlers. ok so lets get a young buck and shot him up with testosterone, then what will happen to him, becides whipping every deer in the woods

Wish I could find a picture of it, or remember the name of the deer but I cant! I use to have a photo of the deer on my safe, but cant find it! If I rember right the deer was well over 300" and was a completly wild deer!
