It seems to me that the city is targeting hunters in particular. My stand was chained to a tree quite a distance off the main road. In order to get to my stand the city had to walk by a metal bed frame someone tossed, a pile of junk plywood someone left and a old tire someone threw out there. It was obvious my property was not abandon. I used it yesterday morning and intended to use it last night. The city saw it appropriate to go past the bed, the tire, and the plywood that had been there for years and take down my stand that had corn under it and obviously being used. Also there was on old wooden stand not being used about twenty yards from mine. The city didn’t touch it. Seems odd to me. Several times when I’ve been parking to go hunting I’ve seen people shooting clay pigeons using lead shot over the equalization canal. The city seems to have no problem with this??? I can understand not wanting people to put up permanent stands but to harass people who are trying to use the land for hunting is just wrong. If they want to look for abandon property they should do so after hunting season.

Bow Hunter and I both got our property back, but got the runaround about it. They told me that they were instructed by the lark and park police to remove it. this is the first year they said they have done it. when i spoke to the police this morning, they denied knowing about it. kinda fishy.

any BH is right. to get to the area where i hunt, there was a torn up mattress, and what appeared to be a jeep rear seat sitting right next to the road, along with tires all over the place. so, they take our stuff, and not the actual trash?

Bow Hunter, i just wrote a letter to my district city councilman. you should do the same. find out who your councilman is and tell them what's up. I also just called the newspaper and left them a message to call me about this. i would love to get this run in the paper.

i'm really hacked off about this right now. not everyone can afford leases and such, and to take away our ability to put up a simple deer stand or feeder is rediculous. I can understand leaving it out there, but as long as it is removed at the end of the season, i don't see a problem with this.

In fairness, the vast majority of public land doesn't allow feeders to begin with. As soon as I read your original post, I figured it was a game warden until you further explained the difference between where you're hunting and typical public land.

To me this is just another example of CYA "cover your arse". I think the govt at any level is so super sensitive to accidental mishaps, confrontations, etc that they look for any reason to remove the threat. It's sad this is happening in Angelo, I knew trouble was brewing when the super Wallyworld moved in...Good luck guy's

Personally, I'm thinking treehuggers and/or PETA. Seriously. To remove all of that gear in 7 hours time took serious work, dedication and a really, really big truck OR two trucks. Could have been the park guys maybe, but I'm still going with PETA donors.

Be kind with your words, thankful to your Creator and generous with the meat from your hunt.

Since they obviously walked by actual trash/junk and took only hunting stuff, could you claim profiling or discrimination to intentionally target hunters since it was obvious they weren't just after "junk?"

I don't know much about this legal stuff so I could be way off in left field.
