Shot at a doe this morning at 0730 at 30 yards, but missed her. It went over her back. Found the bolt and nothing on it. I watched her for about 10 more minutes, but would never come in close enough to shoot again. I will give it another try tonight.

I planted a food plot with some of that throw and grow on Oct 2 and it is up about 2 inches already. It looks pretty good. I'll take some pictures tonight when I go back.

What I think is funny is that the "real" bowhunter who are complaining about crossbows, more than likely are shooting a compund bow with a let off draw and using a release. When these bows first came about, all the guys shooting longbows and recurves where saying the same thing about compound bows. LOL. Ive got news for you guys, crossbows have been around a LOT longer than compound bows. So, unless you are finger drawing the string on your recurve or longbow, you really have no ground to stand on.

Ive got a Barnett revolution crossbow. I can take a good clean shot at 60 yards. I also still use my compound bow. They are both tools.

Technically bowhunters have a longer season as they can hunt during the general season too. I don't care either way. I'm just saying. Congrats all around to ANYONE who takes a deer with archery equipment be it bow or xbow. Its an accomplishment no matter how you slice it (no pun intended).

I like the seasons from other states better. Such as Ark, Ga and Ala. Their archery season starts first and lasts until all other seasons have closed. ie oct 1 thru feb 28 in ark. No break at all between seasons. Then they have a seperate season for muzzleloader and gun hunting. And those seasons are much shorter than ours.

Does this mean you bow hunt with a long bow on horseback like the original bow hunters did? That's impressive. Pretty much any thing past that is cheating to some degree, right?

Picture removed.
clowns creep me out.

I can now hunt with my husband during bow season. He with his compound and me with a crossbow. I have painful arthritis in my hands, enlarged knuckels and would have difficulty holding a grasp for a while with my right hand. I really love the crossbow and practiced until I was right on target. Having the crossbow allows many of us to continue taking part in the hunt when we cannot use a compound bow. Please, whether you drive a Chevy Standard, Dodge or a Ford Automatic , won't you end up getting there no matter what you drive? I just do not understand all the bickering over the crossbow issue.

Thanks for the post. My wife has taken up hunting this year. I just purchased a 243 rifle for her but she is also interested in bow hunting. I took her to a bow shop this past weekend and there is no way that she could pull back the string on a compound bow. She has had surgery on both of her hands. She tried out a crossbow (with crank) and said she felt really comfortable with it. It would give her an opportunity to expand her hunting season. This is an option we will look at next year, if she really enjoys hunting this year. Good luck!

Congrats on the kill up Crossbows seem pretty cool to me. I want to kill a deer with a compound and a crossbow and see which I like better.
