I'd heard that there was a real big deer taken on some of the property owned by the city of Denton out near the greenbelt on 380, but the kid who shot it got in big trouble.

Very quality deer in denton county. two years ago I missed a 160 to 170 inch deer with my bow. I hunted almost every weekend and only saw this buck once! The sad thing is my buddy was filming. I have the best/worst day every recorded for the rest of my life. BTW the deer was between 13 and 17 points with stickers. 42 yards and ducked the arrow. Rookie mistake on my part.

Wow... Those are pretty impressive. We still have some bucks like that on our property, but they are completely nocturnal because of all the development....

Let's set the record straight. I never said I hunted there. I worked there. I'll PM you. I left out every possible detail I could about it and it's location because I didn't want any possibility of ruining you or your brothers spot. I think it's awesome that those monsters are running around this close to DFW.

That dear was killed off of 1385 toward prosper. Kid got caught when he took it to backwoods to have it mounted. Didn't have a legit story and they knew him. That's just one of many they poached though.

Deer was 170ish is what I was told. The story I heard was he shot it across the property line from where he was supposed to be hunting. He supposedly took the game warden to where he shot it. He "thought" he was still on the property he had permission to hunt on. It was off of 1385.

I think the story you heard got mixed with another story one of a poacher. I know the other guy who got caught shooting them on Lake Lewisville land. That is where I heard he shot it anyway.

No harm done. I hope you get both the poacher and that big buck.
