Any type of cannieries in your area??? Places that can tomatos, corn, cooking oils ect??? Thye usually have them. If you get these type of drums, they are also alot easier to clean then ones with oil, fuels ect residue

I don't know how close you need but there's a place right off of HWY 69 South of Greenville that has a bunch of them for sale.

Jack, when you get into Milano, where 36 comes in from Caldwell, you take the left at the light and immediately on your left is a junk place (maybe an "antique" place). They have stacks and stacks of drums there. Surely with that many of them stacked up they are for sale.

Coming from Caldwell you turn left onto 79 and that place is on the RIGHT. And yes they have barrels for sale, not open very often though. Also in Caldwell on 36 about 2 miles South of town they sell plastic 55 gallon drums for $4.00 I think. Also Jack I bought my last 2 barrels from Moore plumbing supply on Maloney in Bryan, you could call and see if they have any.

go to a metal recycling place and they should have some. i have found them like that in the past and they were $16 a peice w/ the lid. make sure that they were used for some type of food storage and not anything that will harm the deer if they eat the corn.

Between Gatesville and Goldthwaite is a little place called Center City. There's a hardware store there on Hwy 84 (Hand's?) that usually has some for about $7-$8 each.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

ya i see that junk place every time i go to my ranch and i very rarely see it open.
i will check with the places yall have mentioned here in bryan and college station, thanks for that.
texan till i die- haha my dads cousin used to work at that texaco in center city, i love talking to ppl that know small towns like i do!
i cant decide if i should get plastic or metal. i have a couple plastic ones arlready at my ranch but they dont have big lids like the metal barrels do, they have a small circle cap like 4" in diameter. if i cut the top off, im not sure what i would use for a top either, idk if theyre 30 or 55 gal...

I was going to use plastic before my dad came up with a couple of free metai ones for me (he's a chemical guy, so not hard to get one on occasion). My plan was to use a band leg setup and mount the drum upside down. To maintain the integrity of the drum, I planned to cut the center out of the bottom, leaving 1.5-2 inches around the edge, and then use one of those galvanized lids.

JackH that junk place is never open..dont waste your time stoppin
Go to the recycling plant on campus. Its off of South College on the right past the old apts. If you goin up University towards Wellborm, turn right on South College Rd. and its on your right bout a half mile down the road. They should be able to hook you up!

adgerc15- you must be an agg! ill try to find a number for them online to save a trip if they dont have any. have you gotten some there before?
if i get drums that have been used for oil or chemicals etc, how do i go about cleaning them? i was assuming taking a steel brush to it, washing it out a few times and them painting the inside with something like Killz that will stay on there for a while

Jack be carefull with barrels used for petroleum, they are tough to get the residue out of. A great lid for these feeders is something my father-in-law came up with and that is using those black rubber cattle feeders. They make a great cap for a feeder and you can mound the corn up past the top and put the lid on it it stays dry, just a thought.

Go to Brenham. Blue Bell has a ton of them. When I lived there you could buy them for $6 a barrell.

The good part about going to get them from Blue Bell would be that you could eat some delicious ice cream while you are there.
