I just got a game cam and was wondering if anyone has had a problem with the flash at night scaring their deer away. I have a couple of friends that swear they do scare em.

I know a guy who swears he has witnessed bucks spooked off by the flash. I asked him, "then why do I see so many people with pictures?" He replied, "you get one picture of a big buck and if he is spooked by the flash - he will never return." I'm sure someone can show us mutiple pictures of the same buck at night? I dont have any...like you, it makes me wonder too.

I've seen the same buck multiple times. However, most I only see once. I guess it depends on the deer.

I have many photos of deer in haul a$$ mode. At first I was using a 35 mm camera and thought it was the noise of the film advancing, but i use a digital now, and they still spook, so what else could it be except the flash?

I've heard that it like lightning to the deer. It's something that they don't particually care for but it's not that big a deal after a while.

When he was young, I told Dale Jr. that hunting and racing are a lot alike. Holding that steering wheel and holding that rifle both mean you better be responsible.

I have a cam set up at a protein feeder, and I've been getting pictures of 4 eight points at the same time, every night and numerous does and fawns. The flash doesn't bother them a bit. My cam is set for every 2 minutes and I'll get over 100 pics a night, all through the night of these same 4 bucks. I have taken 1000's and 1000's of pics of deer and have not had one deer act spooked due to the flash.

I have a digital and I get around 30 to 50 every two weeks. I have the same buck and does. You see one jump from the flash but the next night he or she will be right back.

I continue to see the same bucks on my digital camera. They may miss a night or two or three. But they seem to be coming back.

The only problem is that since dove season started its always at night. We did not dove hunt on our lease this year, so there was no gunfire, but it rained a lot, and they seem to be utilizing the natural browse and not coming to the feeders until after dark. Maybe they can read a calendar and know that the season has started. LOL

Curious if anyone has seen a 160+ buck come back after a flash photo. We get a fair number of 120-130 bucks over and over on cam, but the bigger ones seem to be a one time thing. Since we got the bigger pics during pre-rut/rut we're not sure if it's bucks passing through or if the flash was a factor.

I've been playing this game for several decades and I do know the bigger bucks are a totally different breed. If you hunt in Texas and haven't read John Wooter's 'Hunting Trophy Bucks' I'd recommend it. I heard it from him first and he's soooo right. Big bucks are as different from smaller bucks as does are from bobcats. They are a totally different animal. Just because 2 1/2 yo 8-point bucks don't mind the flash doesn't mean squat if you're hunting big bucks. If they don't mind the flash they probably won't live to be 5 1/2.

Not a 150 class deer, but I get multiple pictures of bucks, although had a doe hop up. The first 3 pics are all on the same shot, 1 pic every minute for 3 minutes.
