Me and my buddy woke up early and got set up at my sunflower field by 8:00. It was chilly, drizzling, and foggy. I was curious on how the birds would be flying but said to my self, i cant shoot them at home so lets go! I have seen them fly in the rain and have seen them not fly when its raining. So we are set up with a mojo and some dekes in the near by dead tree ready to go. We sit on the sunflower field for a hour and a half and see only 8 birds. All to far to shoot. So i said lets leave and go to a milo field that i know of. We hunt the milo field from 10am-12:00. We saw a lot more birds... white wing, morning dove, and eurasians. I ended up shooting 9 morning dove and 6 eurasian dove. My buddy shot 4 morning dove and 3 eurasian dove. Out of my 9 morning dove only 2 of them were over a year old. Lots of small morning dove that i saw. I was surprised to shoot this many this morning in the first place. While we were driving around we did see a bunch of dove on power lines but not flying to feed because of the rain.

Try dove hunting the west texas style.

Drive the county roads with a case of beer popping them of high lines and fence lines. Occasionally you will jump a covey of quail that are in the bar ditches, so be ready to take them also.

You may as well remove the plug from your shotgun, because sometimes those dove will be sitting in flocks of 7-8 birds.

(I'm joking, looks like y'all had fun)

That looks like the back of my truck while I was at Tech, minus a few hundred empty beer cans, of course.

Looks like a fun hunt, way to go!

I've had some of my best dove hunts while I was in school at Tech. We used to hunt a cotton field off east 4th street.
