Where was the biggest wild buck you have ever seen alive? You did not necessarily have to have seen it while you were hunting, but where was it located?

We were coming back through Dolph Briscoe country in South Texas one afternoon late in deer season. We had been hunting in Laredo, Texas and were heading home. We were driving in some small rolling hills that were covered in knee high brush and tall grasses with groups of trees scattered throughout. We topped a hill and started down into a shallow draw and a deer jumped both fences and stood out at the edge of the pasture looking back at us. We slowed down, but were past him before we could determine exactly what we were looking at. He had points going in every direction and was a sight to behold. We topped the little hill leading out of the small draw and I asked my buddy if he wanted to go back and look at him through the binoculars. He replied, "No, we will just end up getting into trouble." So, we just kept on driving. That was the biggest deer I have ever seen alive and that was about 35 years ago.

I have seen 2 typicals that I know would make the book. A massive 12 outside of Manter, KS and a 10 pt. in NW Dallam, Cty, TX. I have videotape of a massive NT whitetail SW of Dighton, KS while on a scouting trip.

Mule deer, I saw a huge typical south of Boise City, OK and a STUPID big NT Muley in Hamilton, Cty, KS. Saw this big rascal eating out of feed trough in a Feed Yard on Hwy 50 in a blizzard.

The two biggest deer that I ever seen were taken in Cooke county . One in '07 - a typical @ 158 and in '08 a non-typical that scored 197 . Both were something to look at .

I forgot! It was around Buffalo. bolt

I love that part of the world. Have you ever stopped in Springfield, CO at the full service Texaco? There are some WT's in there that will astonish you. They have been killing them there since the 50's. Worth a looksie.

Largest live wt buck I've come across was a typical 14pt. in Brown County near Zephyr, TX. He looked to score 165"-170". He showed up one time and was gone like a ghost when the does around my blind busted me as I reached for the rifle. bang He haunts me all the time. grin

Saw a huge 4x4 mulie near Pagosa Springs Co. on an elk hunt in the early 90s. Saw a monster 10 pt WT in Kansas along the turnpike on the way home from Missouri. He was following a doe out in the wide open at 2 in the afternoon.

Biggest non-typical I ever seen alive was a 176" 18 point my dad killed with a bow in Freestone county back in the 90's! I saw that deer about 10 minutes before he shot it!

Biggest typical would be a heavy horned 10 point I saw on Thanksgiving about 5 years ago when I was headed to Eastland! He was standing right on the side of I-20 within the Ft.Worth city limits! Probably close to a 160" deer!

When i was only 11 years old i gotta chance to hunt on my uncles ranch in terahote, Indiana. I remember sitting in a ground blind just off the edge of a cornfield. I had been sittin there about an hour playin with some mice around the tree i was sitting against when i heard a deer running behind me, when i looked i saw a doe runnin across the field and then outta no where this GIANT WT typical 12 pt came runnin out the woods after her... Easily over 300 lbs on the hoof and His rack was gleaming off the sun so it looked twice as big! Anyways that the biggest deer ive ever seen, besides in my dreams of course...

When I was a kid there was a buck that hung around near the James River bat cave (near Mason). He was absolutely enormous. He was easily a 200+ inch typical. Texas Parks and Wildlife did a helicopter survey of him and said he was the largest buck ever surveyed on the Edwards Plateau. Unfortunately it was suspected that he was killed by a poacher. He was not very skiddish and would hang out in a field by the county road while passersby would check him out.

163" to be exact. He is hanging on the wall at our ranch right now. I can honestly say I have killed the biggest deer I have ever seen, although I think I have glimpsed some that would get close.

I think the tape measure in alot of hunter's eyes is a little more generous than it should be.

At 200+ typical we are talking a world class deer, and if he was "easily a 200+ typical" then you could have witnessed the new World Record typical! Its likely that if that deer had been poached and scored that high he would have turned up somewhere by now!

Not saying I dont believe you, I am just saying a 200" free range typical is EXTREMLY RARE!!!!!

NT was in Zavala/Frio county not sure which as the ranch was in both. Scored 230 something when it was killed. I'm pretty sure it won the Los Cazodores low fence that year.

Typical, I'm not positive on. I have video of a 175" deer 50 yards from the truck on the same ranch as the deer above. I saw another about that size in Cooke county about 10 years ago. Another in Grayson that I videoed from long range that was big, and one in Jack county that I glassed from long range.

I have been fortunate to see some giants but have never been in the situation where I could shoot one.
