Biggest buck I've ever killed was about an hour after I dropped a boar on his way to the feeder. The buck stopped and looked at him, then continued walking down the sendero to the feeder.

This may not pertain to hogs in particular, but more to disturbing an area. Was hunting a large South Texas ranch. I was hunting a giant mount of dirt and brush that had been pushed up when the plot was planted, and was dug out on top. Was pretty sweet.

But anyways, I was hunting, and had the urge to go. Was only 15 or so at the time, and didn't want to wander too far into the brush to do my business. Basically, took a dump just outside the oat patch. Crawled back onto the dirt mound. A buck, no less than 10 minutes later, came out at that exact spot. In an hour or so, I was surrounded by 29...yes TWENTY NINE bucks at the same time.

Seems that everytime I drop a deuce, the deer start pouring out of the woods.

Not a hog, but had a buddy shoot a coyote once. About 20 seconds after he did, a buck ran out and gored the dead yote.

Sometimes a gunshot will scare off deer, and sometimes they barely notice.

I've had a bobcat show up before immediately after I've shot a deer.

I shoot them everytime I see them. Deer come around, and you are looking at a bigger area then at a feeder, so time to shoot a deer is still there. I will shoot at every hog I see, often killing one in his tracks and putting another bullet in one as they scatter. Stay in the stand and let the area settle down. Of course, I would suggest a quick scan of the land before you dust the hog just to be sure.

Is it agaist the law to carry a gun for hogs while bow hunting so you don't have to waste an arrow.

The 2 biggest pigs I've shot have both been for revenge. lol.

Here's one from December 2006. Just before dark, I was looking at a nice 5.5 year old 130 class, 20" 8 point and contemplating pulling the trigger when that decision was made for me. This 350 lb. boar came wandering under the stand and scared off all 13 deer that were in front of me. He signed his own death warrant.....

Then last year.....I was hunting our little place close to home, since we were without a lease. This huge sow kept coming in EVERY evening and scaring off any deer in the area and eating all my corn.....so on the 7th evening she did that, I gave her a 180 grain .300 WSM bullet just above her right eye and solved my problem. She was around 300 lbs.

You can carry a handgun if you have a CHL. up

I hate them. I shoot at them regardless, because they will scare off the deer anyway it seems. Up in Arkansas were I deer hunt, those things move in huge packs and all they do is eat your corn, tear up your feeder, and screw you out of a deer down the road. BUST'EM!!!

I just bow hunt so I kill them as soon as they come in. I have noticed if I hammer them in the early season then they pretty much leave me alone after that. Also I shoot them through the lungs so they run off a way before they die. If it is late in the morning or early in the afternoon I will shoot them in the head and drag them away.

I have often wondered about this. I would ASSUME, early or late in the season it wouldn't be a good idea if your on 500 or less acres because the deer that are near are probably always on or near your land. BUT, during the rut, I think it would be OK because a buck that you see @ 7 can be a mile or more away @ 8. Does this makes sense? I'm gonna try to go out for a few trips before rifle season(I don't bow hunt) & kill a few @ my feeder & hopefully they will associate my feeder with DEATH & stay away. Is there any logic to my way of thinking?
