Hey fellas,
I got my trap all done up and out to the lease. I finished the drop down door/ rooting bar trigger and it works awesome! My next question... I welded a cattle panel on the bottome of the trap and a buddy said hogs hate the feeling of walking on the stuff. He's not a hog, and I've never heard of that, does that seem to be the case? Would you leave the floor or cut it out!?!

def leave the floor, most of the traps ive used have floors, and i catch em constantly.... some people put to much emphasis into a hog trap. mainly, a hog doesnt care, they will walk straight up into ur house if ur not in it and eat out ur pantry. hogs arent that scared of man made structures, especially when there is food available. they will walk in there with no problem. hogs are dumb anmials as far as trap smarts go.

Man, as soon as I can spend some time at my place I'll keep the trap set. I got a new deer lease in Comanche County. 1/2 way between DeLeon and the city of Comanche. A buddy and I have 250 acres. We lease it from my dads buddy who has an additional 1000 acres ajoining our place. Lots of hog tracts, and a few spot where they have been rooting around. I set 50lb of soured corn and some old sweet feed around the rooting "bar". I had to wedge a stick to keep the door from shutting because I won't be able to check it again until the 2nd week of October. I wish I was a little closer to keep an eye on it. Maybe I'll catch a few this fall! Thanks, again, for your trigger trip diagram and additional help!

I would leave it. Mine has a cattle panel in the floor and we catch em. Without one they might be able to root under it.
