I know different scents work better during different times of the season. For example, I use Doe In Heat during the rut. What is the best scent to use during bow season?

The best scent is NO SCENT!, unless you have a fresh pair of tarsal glands off a good buck, you put those out in another good buck's territory and just pull the bow back because he's coming. Be carefull with scent, it's better to smell like nothing than to smell like something you ain't supposed too.
IF YOU CAN DO IT, IT AIN'T BRAGGIN!

It's the black nasty spot on the inside of a bucks rear legs. Just above the knee. When he makes a scrape, he'll pee down these rubbing them together to make all the girls like him.

Try this only cause...you like advice from someone a little off in the head;my advice I give is from numerous trial/errors ..It depends on what part of bow season we talkin'.I'll give you what I mean. Some say as soon as bucks shed velvet they start having does on their mind. Some folks belive that a select few does go into heat early.Never seen it myself though. For me,Opening day---doe urine(plain not doe in rut)on boots more or less as a cover scent.Use until week 3 or if I notice any type of pre-rut behavior.Week 3,dominant buck scent...it is almost time for kickoff.Week 4 doe in heat on scent wicks.....This data is not area specific as the rut varies from place to place.Hope this helps ya'.When in doubt Don't use Anything At All....This advice comes with a one buck gurantee.....will cause one buck to spook or one buck to come into bow range. This is a copy of an earlier post I made in the Bow Hunting forums under Attraction Scents: "The problem with most scents is in their use. We need to learn when, where and how to use them. Deer have an olfactory system that would shame any bloodhound. 1)Early bow season, rely on food sources, water, trails and general patterning. 2)Early rifle the bucks are scraping and rubbing. A mock scrape is good then. Tarsel, urine, dander etc. I like to pour a few drops of pee on the tarsel while in a baggy before I leave camp. Rub it on the scrape, then hang it up. This puts very little scent out. 3)Rut, late November, is when I use the estrus lure. Many people forget about the drag but that is the only way I use it. Use a syringe, dropper or squeeze bottle. Put a few drops on the a piece of terry cloth and drag it on a string. I don't like the ankle drags because they always slap my leg and make me the attractant. I want to be scent free. After 100yds. refresh with a few more drops. Drag this to your ambush site, go hide off to the side and wait. I've used Tinks 69 and Pete Rickard's Indian Buck lure have deer follow nose to the ground like a coon dog. The key is to use very little, more is not better. When I look at sign of heavy deer concentration like at a feeder, I don't smell lots of urine or or musk. I don't want it too strong when I put it out either."

straight doe pee, or a buck lure as nothing is in heat yet they are just feeding and rubbing now.

No scent products. I only use Hunter's Specialties Cover Scent Wafers that smell like dirt in case my Carbon Blast missed a spot.
