today and it was a bad start from the begining. Left the house at 4:20, filled up with gas, picked up my buddy which was in the opposite direction of where we are going, don't ask why, I don't know! Let him know I'm there in 20, he says OK. I'm there in 19 and text him I'm here, he responds be out in 10. 30 minutes later he comes out and I'm like WTF! It's OK because I have started the process early. We get on the road for an hour + drive and it is 5:15 now, still time to get deked up and set. About 40 minutes into the drive my buddy says he for got the keys!!!! I turn around and don't care about going as I don't want to show up that late. He talks me in to it by offering to pay for some gas, unwilling I oblige. We get there at 07:30 and no birds on the water. Stayed for an hour and nada thing. First time in 6 years he claims that there are not at least a few flights. I guess I need to figure out the public water thing with a kayak if anyone wants to join, as this guy is unreliable. I understand one slip up, but being late and forgetting keyes is not acceptable at the same time, when I get up at 4AM.

I got up at 3:15, drove to Oklahoma, got out on the lake and had to turn the boat around due to huge waves.

It was just one of those deals, better off not dying out there. It happens at least 3-4 times a year for me.

Thats sucks, I hate when people make you wait when you give them a time to be ready. I always wake up 30-45 minutes before I am supposed to be just to be sure.

At least you have Mother Nature as your excuse and you managed a Dove hunt out of it. No birds is not the problem, it happens and that is the chance you take when you go out. I told him the rains probably pushed the birds out, but you can't tell him anything, he said there will be birds on my place, always is. I have known him for a long time, but it is hard enough to get 2 people on the same page and get setup up and not have some sort of problem, just don't know why this is, but it is! Bad thing is I am stuck dealing with this type of thing happening until I find an alternative place and it is getting late for that, while starting a new job in a few weeks, oh well it could be worse. I know I an venting, but I was so ready and setup to go, just gets under your skin.

There are 5 good ponds that always hold birds, when you shoot them off one, they just fly to the other ones.

I figure we get like 8-10 guys and put two guys on each one. Probably in December.

same kinda thing happened to me last year. took one of my fair weather hunting buddys out with me, dont get me wrong he is a great guy but not all that dedicated! we got to the spot a little late got decoys set out and into our wigwam when he noticed that he forgot one thing back at the truck.......it was his gun!!!! i was beyond pissed and realy didnt want him driveing my boat thru the woods in the dark but i wasnt gonna miss this hunt so i sent him back to the truck solo! i had a green head and 2 teal by the time he came back. could have had more but my gun only held 3 shells when that group came in! hahaha so now when we go hunting i treat him like a little kid and we go over the "check list" before we leave the ramp!

Yeah, I need to do that too, with the list. My buddy is dedicated when he invites a group of people because he wants to look like the man. But when he calls me and says it is just me and you, he slips on his dedication.
