Been to the one in Early, TX in Brown Co. It was not bad. They have it at the Methodist church in town. Had Raffle tickets and good chili with all the fixins and desserts. We had a good time. good chance to visit with other hunters in your area.

The one in Junction is a great time to be had by all.

If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

Comanche one time, chili supper. Was pretty good until I picked what I thought was a cherry pepper, turned out to be a Habanero. It burned so bad that my hair hurt.

I've never been to one or heard of one except on THF....
Ours is, whoever gets to the lease a day early (that's usually me) gets the smoker fired up and has something ready when the rest start showing up.

On the Friday before Opening Day, we have a small dinner between hunters who are members of a few surrounding leases in the area where I hunt in Houston County. We just pick a place in Crockett and show up at the chosen time.

Naturally, the few "outlaw" hunters we have around us are never invited.

We're very fortunate to have such good relationships between different hunter groups in our area. It's very common to have members of one lease assist those on another for various needs. And it has really paid off in terms of the quantity and quality of deer in the area. All in all, I would say our partnerships effect several thousand acres of hunting habitat in the area.

I like that... usually for us it's a Subway at 11pm trying to get to the camp! I'd love to be there the day before to set up camp, but we usually have to hustle with all the other things going on...

Ahh yes. The infamous Comanche chili dinner. Be careful - I would not recommend this meal the night before opening of deer season. You won't get much hunting done. You'll be spending most of your time evacuating your bowels! And that's WITHOUT eating a habanero pepper. rofl

sick sick

We just cook a good steak over a hot bed of coals at our camp. A few buddies of ours that dont hunt with us usually join in and eat and have a few drinks with us.
