Has anyone here hunted the property by the US Mint near Fort Worth, Texas that Cory Anderson runs? If so what do you think about it? Was it worth it?

I have hunted there before.... the time I went the birds flew right before dark... pretty darn slow before that, but that was last year at the end of September could be different now. It was nice that it was close to town but a little too rich for my blood. Might be good out there right now. Who knows?

Thanks for the reply. I sure would like to hear from some other people that hunted it last year. I keep hearing all of these stories about there being over a thousand birds there and a 100 people limiting out in less than 2 hours.

My son and I hunted his place this last Saturday & Sunday. Saturday a ton of birds were flying but we shot like crap and ended up with a total of 17 in 4 hrs. Sunday afternoon we took advantage of the practice the day before and we limited in 2.5 hrs. (home well before kick-off.) Runs a pretty tight ship; I assume due to the location of fields and landowners request. "Bubba's" running around popping caps without regard to others will not be tolerated. Since I bring my son and dog out I appreciate the extra safety measures he takes by enforcing rules and spacing everyone out. Is it a bit pricey, sure, but the convenience and fact that there are birds to be shot at 30 minutes from my house makes it more than acceptable. So if your asking: I'd give it a thumbs up! Hope this helps. Danno

I dove hunted with Cory twice, both times lots of birds. Last season at the mint, and as the poster said above, kind of slow up until sunset, but then it was a barrel burner last 30 minutes. This was an October hunt. Then I hunted his other place up the road from them mint this weekend, it was a last minute thing and I kinda got there late. But lots of birds there as well. This place seemed to be just the opposite of the mint, birds fly all day, then slow down last hour of sunset. These fields are covered with food. The good thing about Cory’s fields is that he does not over hunt them, he does not morning hunt the fields, so the birds fly into the fields in the morning to feed and are not shot at, so the birds stick around. I would hate to be a guide, that is a tough business, I could never do it, you just never know what birds are going to do, and you can never please all clients, but Cory does a good job. Below is a pic of my son and Cory last season at the mint, Ryan is holding one of Cory’’s guns.
