So I have a 77/22 Magnum in a boat paddle stock that I sanded out to take a .920 Volquartsen barrel. I couldn’t deal with the factory sling attachment. There was no way to use QD attachments and without a sling, it rattled around and made a racket. I bedded a wooden block in the fore end and bedded the holes from where the factory sling attachments were. Some careful drilling, wood threaded studs and knife making epoxy finished it up.

There wasn’t a lot of material on the rear part of the stock so that was had me worried.

It almost got away from me. I forgot bedding compound goes from usable to unusable about 45 minutes in. I’m accustomed to the 24 hour knife epoxy.

I think you did that right to make it better. What is the problem?

Fantastic!! My first deer rifle was a boat paddle .270 Win. Great memories, but that thing kicked like a mule.

Yep my dad had a 7Mag and I scoped the hell out of myself with it. But I always liked them. Bought one in 270 when I got older, but sold it like an idiot.

It’s like putting something improved on a classic car to some folks.

You handled the one aspect that always bothered me. Your modification looks good.
I did a little extra on mine. I made a butt-cuff, shorten the barrel to 19", and added the walnut panels from a tree off of my property.
I really liked that rifle and had taken 14 deer with it before someone stole it! (The %&@#@ got my Ruger RSI at the same time!)

I've got a 300 WM in a boat paddle stock and it absolutely runs me nuts trying to shoot it from the bench off of bags. Nowhere near as steady as a bipod and a rear bag.

Silver spurs and gold tequila
keep me hanging on.
Pretty girls and old cantinas
give me shelter from the storm.
