The employee in charge of the garage merchandise accused me of disrespecting him by checking his math when it was time for me to check out.

Tried to explain to him that I didn’t mean any disrespect by it, but you should’ve seen his notepad where he was tallying the items; looked like chicken scratch.

Anyways he kept running his mouth and told me I could “gone head and get the fk up outta here”

I used some profanity in my reply and it escalated to the point that he said he was gonna blow my head off as he opened his truck door in a panic. Said he felt threatened by me.

Anyhoo, the only reason I post this is to remind everyone that, perhaps now more than ever, people are at their breaking point. He could’ve easily snapped and started shooting just because I called him a few names. A move that might’ve cost me everything.

Went around front and got the guy in charge, told him what happened, got my merch and left.

Sounded like he was getting fired but yeah, could’ve easily gotten out of hand today.

Yes, we are at a point where civility and level-headedness are all but gone.

Cooler heads seem to rarely prevail.

Blessings that it ended with a whimper and sneer.

...!

It's also an indication of why road rage has become so common.

Glad you're okay. Garage/estate sales are supposed to be fun (for the buyers.anyway).

As we get older, we lose patience with incompetence. The young ones are now being taught to not tolerate the slightest question or challenge. We're headed to a dark place.

I don't get mad at stuff like that any more really. Cussing back didn't help.

Take's a whole lot to get this goat's, goat and some possible bad math isn't it. May just chaulk it up to a life experience and move on is probably best approach.

Did your use of profanity make you feel better?

Good way for someone to get the air let out of them.

“olds”. Like broke down old 75 yr old hollering at young people driving too fast or me telling door to door sales guy to leave impolitely for the 3rd time?
Punching an “olds” is enhanced.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Generational differences. And, they’re apparent here . The “olds”, like me, learned math without the use of electrical devices.

My grown grandchildren go to their phone to calculate things that “olds”, again like me, do In our head. They whip out their phone to calculate sales tax. It’s not a matter of intelligence but of different training and experiences. OTOH, if I have a problem with my home computer or phone, I call one of them.

Neither of us totally understand all of the electronics in newer cars.

None of them have a torque wrench.

Stopped in at Popeyes a couple days ago and my purchase totaled $10.81. Gave the young girl $21. She just blankly stared at me for a minute before I told her "Just give me a ten and the change." I was doing her a favor for not taking all her ones. She finally got it.

It’s not the jab. It’s too many people keeping their head down on their smart phone engaging with bots and foreign adversary trolls on social media. Societal norms have taken a huuuuge shift in the wrong direction since the late aughts when the iPhone & smart phones became prevalent.

Stopped at a DQ drive through couple weeks ago for ice cream cone. Gave the girl 3 dollars, she had to call over another worker to count my change for her. WTH!

I have gotten better at just looking at an idiot and walking away, age I suppose.
I have to remember this quote every time I run into a confrontation with an idiot. Sometimes I remember it too late.

“Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

Being polite seems to be on the decline.

Yes it does, as well as the appreciation from others for being polite.

Went to a estate sale yesterday also for a tool I wanted that they showed in the preview pictures. The guy in the garage part wasn't going to have any problems as he he had a 9mm strapped on his hip.
