No, it isn’t my dress, but it is my miserable destiny this weekend. Lord help me. The oldest granddaughter will spend all day trying on wedding dresses. My wife HAS to be there for the whole experience, and I’m the driver. To them, this is a BIG deal. More of a chore to me.
While they are doing all that, I’d go to Bass Pro and buy something, but I don’t need anything. I don’t need fishing stuff or hunting/reloading stuff. Don’t need a boat, since I’m trying to sell the one I have. Maybe I should just go buy that 9mm P365 and not wait for the FN Reflex I really want. That’ll give me some purpose.
Other or additional purchase suggestions are welcome.

Hang tough, no gruff. It's a big deal for the ladies as you know. ...I should just go buy that 9mm P365... Yes. ...and not wait for the FN Reflex... Again, yes.

I bet there are more than a few vehicles/driver's licenses between them. Don't see the need for anyone else to drive.

Wife won’t drive in Dallas. I’ll get her there and hand her off to the rest of the gals. And I’ll go shopping
I think I dislike weddings almost as much as funerals.

Had a Lutheran pastor tell me he'd much rather do a funeral than a wedding.
The ladies get pretty stressed out at a wedding. I've seen some folks say some stupid things at a wedding, but there's usually alcohol involved. I've heard a lot more stupid chit, and outright lies, at a funeral, sometimes in a eulogy, and most of the time they're sober.

I don’t expect this upcoming wedding to be too dramatic and insane. The granddaughter is calm and level headed. The only wild card is her mom, our oldest daughter. She can definitely get out of control. She works in HR and likes to control things. She definitely has the HR Know It All disease.
Last wedding in the family had a good bit of drama, with lots of women getting hurt feelings. And the bride, a cute and tiny little person (step granddaughter) that drinks too much can turn into a true “cuss like a sailor” drunk - a true wild out of control person. If she was 6 foot 3 and 230 pounds, we’d all run for the exits. She was a mid level bridezilla.
Oh man, I hate weddings and the preparations.

Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. If the ladies will go for it, you'll save big $$'s over buying a new dress she will wear for a few hours.
Thanks, Rich

Not trying to offend, but I really hope 603 is saying this in semi-jest and isn't serious. The amount of people who would love to be able to wedding dress shop with their grandkids is probably a lot more than actually get to do it. I cherished wedding dress shopping with my girls. If anything, it showed I care. I reserved my judgement on the dresses, my wife was the vocal one there, but I simply was there and PAID ATTENTION. We sit on this board and complain about the current generation and how they lack awareness....this post lacks awareness big time. Be there and be attentive. Show her you care more than just being a driver

I did the dress shopping with our daughters, years ago. Suffered through it. The women don’t need me there at this dress shopping and wouldn’t give 2 cents for whatever dress I thought looked best. Now, if the bride to be requested that I be in attendance, I’d suffer through it. Hopefully she won’t ask. She hasn’t yet. The guys - her stepdad and her hubby-to-be - will probably want to know what I want to do. They’ll want to help me pistol shop. Both are gun guys.
I’ll see the wedding dress at the wedding.
One positive thing about all this is that it’s not costing me one red cent, though I fully expect that the wife will do some subsidizing without my knowledge. I look away and pretend to not know.

Swimsuits…I remember the youngest daughter calling from upstairs, saying “Dad, come see my new swimsuit” (which was for the Senior trip when the kids went to Galveston). My Lord, there was practically no swimsuit. Not enough cloth to keep a pet mouse warm. And that was a long time ago…before butt floss arrived here from South America. I don’t think I said anything, being momentarily mute, before my wife pulled me aside and said “don’t say a word”.

The problem wasn't my daughter - it was all the other darling daughters belonging to others. Felt like a creeper as I continually averted my eyes. That lit lil' patch of cloth was covering much less fur than what is on a mouse.

I’d go to Bass Pro and buy something, but I don’t need anything. Like that's ever been a requirement for spending money at Bass Pro Shops

I'd go to Scheels over Bass Pro

I'd rather have a tooth pulled than what your putting yourself into. So your wife and GD don't drive?
Go throw your Man Card in the trash, not needed anymore.

Go to Scheels. No one ever started a thread "Fun at Scheels".

Some of you guys don't realize that dress shopping has now become an all day drinking affair. Be glad they want you to be their designated driver.
Thanks, Rich

I will admit, I watch the dress store scene in Bridesmaids every time I come across it.
