Cedar elm. I have a buddy that calls it piss elm. You can tell what he thinks of them. But, they do make good fireplace wood. As rustbucket said, don't cook over it.

Not my favorite cooking wood by a good margin, but have used it to cook with before. Smoked some ribs for my birthday last month over coals from it that were great.

Thanks. Definitely fireplace wood. Only burn oak but helped the neighbor clear some fallen trees off our fence line and it was loaded on the trailer with everything else. Not one to let good firewood go to waste.
