The oldest SiL has been on Ozempic for the weight loss. He has decided to get off it. Will there be any withdrawal symptoms? I’ve read that it’s tough on pregnant women, but that’s not a problem for him. But for those women, apparently they have ravenous hunger and rapid weight gain.

That stuff scares me. I have an extended family member on it, and it has wrecked her body in more ways than one. She has a host of other issues, though, and honestly she’s wasn’t that that overweight to begin with … not sure why she ever started it.

No issues for me. Just finished my last dose 2 weeks ago after dropping 40 in 3 months. Heavy diet & exercise now to maintain.

Wife uses it for diabetes. Missed it for a couple weeks because she did not fill her prescription in time and it got restocked and basically sold to somebody else that probably didn’t need it realmad

She definitely went through withdrawals but she denies it. But she is diabetic, and I am sure that has something to do with it.

Curious to see how this plays out in the long haul. Lots of women and men are on it these days. I’ve seen nobody personally be able to maintain their weight post shot. Not saying it can’t happen, but I have t seen it and I know several.

It sucks that people can't get the medication they need because people are getting it for off label use.

There’s something called “Ozempic face” now.

Evidently it depletes the fatty padding in your face so it appears sunken in

If someone is morbidly obese I'd argue they need it for their health as much as a diabetic. If they're some Hollyweird type that's taking the easy route to go from 5% body fat to 2%, that is wrong.

That happens with any rapid weight loss. Only difference is that it's mostly associated with these drugs nowadays.

Personally, I’m taking Metformin as the doc prescribed for Type 2. Apparently it’s also somewhat like Ozempic, in that it can cause weight loss. Cuts down on your appetite. I’ve been told to increase the dosage, and I have lost some weight. I never get on the scales, so unless the belt gets tighter or looser, I never know my weight. At the doctor recently, I was surprised to see that I had lost 5 pounds or a bit more.

The SiL, who has been on Ozempic, is a top level triathlete in his age class. He has terrible food choices and had gained weight, lowering his HP to weight ratio. Rather than improve his diet, he got on Ozempic. Bad choice, in my opinion. I hope it doesn’t hurt him.

Most people taking it for weight loss aren't actually taking ozempic, they are taking a generic semi glutide that is only approved for weight loss. Most people who can't get it aren't getting it because insurance won't approve them to take it.

This may be the curmudgeon in me, but, if you didn't need injections and pills to get fat, is it a good idea to use them to get unfat?

Nope. But most people (including my own sister) are too lazy to make the necessary life changes. Calories in, Calories out. Eat less food, burn more calories.

That obese woman on that Jardiance commercial dancing around and singing about how a little pill will cure all of her poor diet decisions annoys the F out of me every time I see it.

It isn't about laziness for most. Food can be an addiction like any drug or alcohol. Except it is worse cuz you can live without drugs and alcohol, but you have to have some food to survive. It's like telling an alcoholic they have to drink one beer a day, but that's it.

lol. No, strippers were targets of opportunity for us. I considered them prostitutes in training.

You can buy the pill variation without a script for 3 bucks per dose. There isn't a shortage.

Edit: Just checked and I guess that the word got out and they raised their prices. It is now just over 10 bucks per dose.

No substitute for moving. Gets harder the older ya get. Is it the perfect drug ? doubtful. 10 years from now they will probably discover it causes cancer.

Blame the Dr. Prescribing it not the patient.
