We had the GS here this weekend, and he brought the GF. She moved down from NYC to be with him. She’s smart, good looking, and she likes my jokes. My daughter, the GS’s mom, was blathering on about hoping this relationship might last. I was thinking it looked like a solid relationship, and I asked the wife what she thought. She said the gal wanted to look at old family pictures and baby pictures, wondering what hair color their kids would have. Ya know, I this will soon go to the altar and the ‘I do’s’.

The girl is an excellent pistol shot, and likes driving a tractor.

I have learned to never get attached to a girlfriend. We are on no.3 with the oldest and have loved every one.

Yep! He’ll get a lot of stuff for sure. He’s the only one that has interests similar to mine. And he has a strong work ethic, which I admire in a person.

The gal lived in NYC for her job with a big financial outfit, and she has taken a new job in Houston. Makes real good money.

The Grandson (GS) has had plenty of girlfriends over the years, most of which we met and liked, but I think this is the ONE.

She moved all her furniture from NYC to his apartment in Houston, and she has already REARRANGED everything. Has some wallpaper picked out for one room. Took over one big walk-in closet. To me, this is hilarious. I told him this would happen. I don’t think he really believed me. If he and the relationship will survive a few months of him being ‘managed’, then he’ll earn my respect as a man that can happily be married. I think he’ll pass the test.

The gal wanted to shoot some handguns, so I put up the target at about 8 yards and brought out the 686 and the 38 Special ammo. I gave her a short instruction on sight alignment and how to hold the gun with both hands. She dry fired it a couple of times before I loaded it. Put on safety glasses and hearing protection, and she proceeded to shoot the dead center middle out of the target. Never seen that before from a new shooter, male or female. Impressive. She didn’t do quite as well with the PX4 in 9mm, showing an obvious preference for the revolver.

She’s the kind of gal you guys would like as a granddaughter-in-law.
