Who's had it recently? Your experience? My vision went south a month ago or so while I was dealing with my wife's medical issues. Saw the eye Dr Thursday and after testing, said I had cataracts in both eyes and need lens replacements. Have to put it off until June as the wife still not able to drive until then. I get "measured" next month to see which 3 different lenses will work best for me. Of course, only one is covered by insurance and the other 2 range from $2k to $3.5K per eye. I had Lasik 15 years ago and eyes were great until a few years ago when I started needing reading glasses. I'll be 65 at the end of the year.

Most every outcome I’ve personally known has turned out great.

Was she partially sedated for the procedure?

Just had this done 2 months ago. Actual procedure only takes a couple minutes. literally 15 minutes after it was over i was on the way home and 1 month checkup had 20/20.
I had the top tier lense done, about $10k out of pocket. Wish i had this done a long time ago.

Outstanding! Were you partially sedated?

They gave me a choice of an IV or two Diazepam tabs, i chose the tabs. You have to be awake and aware of everything during the procedure, your eyes can't be wandering around when they go to centering the lense.
They gave me numbing drops several times before they started. You can feel slight pressure on your eye, really not bad at all. I was nervous on the first eye, second i was like "let's get started". You will go in the day
of the procedure and prep for an hour or so, they put you in a bed (i went to sleep both times, lol). When they take you to the operating room you bed is wheeled in and positioned under some lights. Just as soon as
you are in position the team immediately starts, there is no "the Dr will be with you shortly". In two minutes you are out of the room and setting up in the recovery area waiting on your ride. I'll send you a pm with my
phone number if you want to talk about it?

Thanks, they mentioned the IV and "partial sedation." I'll ask about taking an additional pill as I have extreme anxiety when lying on my back.

I had one eye done 8 years ago and one done 6 years ago. Best money I have ever spent. I was given an IV to administer the sedative. They needed me awake to move my eye as needed. I don't recall any pain. They put me on a bed when i registered, and kept me on that same bed when they wheeled me in to do the procedure. Waiting for the sedative to take effect, took the longest. The procedure took maybe 4 minutes, then I had to stay in recovery for about 20 minutes to get my legs under me. I had the lens for distance vision put in one eye, and the lens for up close put in the other eye. I wear magnifiers only when print is very small. I was given drops to put in my eyes and freaked me out when I could taste the drops. I called the Dr. and they said that was normal. The eye ducts are connected to the sinus cavity, and the sinus cavity drains to the back of the throat. Looking back the drops were the worst thing of the whole experience. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions,

Appreciate that.
I'm using Brian Flowers in Ft Worth. He did my wife's a few years ago but she doesn't remember much about the procedure. Came out perfectly though.

He is a good surgeon. If you have any questions along the way feel free to reach out. I do not believe Dr Flowers is a hunter so if you have any specific questions about hunting/shooting, feel free to talk.

I had cataract surgery 10 years ago. I had a choice of mono-focal, multi-focal and accommodating lenses. I went with the accommodating lenses, which work similarly to your natural lens, but the close range isn't as good as what you were born with. Mine are Crystalens. I went this route because of shooting iron sights (pistol and rifle). I am glad I went this route and would do it again. Make sure you understand all three types of lenses, as they all work differently. With that said, you pay for what you get. Make sure you use a surgeon who does a lot of these and has a good reputation.

When I had my Lasik done, I tried the mono (one eye short, other eye long) and my brain couldn't adjust to it. About drove me crazy for the week until I went to both long. Reading glasses don't bother me.

Had mine done in 2018, both eyes a couple months apart. Went the long distance version, readers don't bother me, yes I went cheap but Insurance would not cover the others.

First eye went well, the second required Doc going back in and removing a chip that came off and made things so cloudy I could not see out of it but shapes legally blind in that eye. I also had Fuchs Syndrome so the cornea did not pump the fluids out of the eye. Once that piece was removed on the second surgery after a few weeks i started to see much better and now with Fuchs surgeries over I have 20-25 to 20-40 vision that varies between but doing good and no problems.

Glad I got all those eye surgeries. Even with the single focus I still shoot handguns pretty good and the rifles with Peeps and Irons still work for me.

I had it done a couple of years ago. I got the cheapest ones because that's what the VA paid for. An eye doctor in Sherman did it. I now only need readers and my night vision is great. The worst thing about it is all the drops you have to use. I'm glad I didn't pay for the more expensive ones.

Fairly happy with mine, done two weeks apart about 4 years ago in Alamogordo. No sedation as I had no one to take me home. Very odd experience but it worked pretty well. I was shocked at how muddy my vision had become. After the first eye, I'd look at the same scene with one and then the other, and the "old" lens was dingy and slightly yellowed like an old photo, while the color really popped through the new lens!

Had right eye done 1/15/2020, left eye done 2/5/2020. Have worn glasses 50 + years. Came out with 20/20 distant. Still need 1.25-1.50 readers, but can buy lots of cheap readers for the additional $6-$7.000 grand it would have cost get that fixed. Was worried at first, as you only have two eyes, but so glad to have it done! Easy peasy!!! Only bad part was wearing glasses with one lense removed for three weeks. P.S, week after had the left eye done, Fauci’s Covid hit bang bang bang LASIK center shut down for over a year, feel sorry for people that had one eye done, and had to wait a year before they could get other eye done……Put me under for part of procedure, but was awake during lense replacement.

Is there a time frame after the surgery where you can’t shoot heavy recoiling rifles? Such as a 300 wm?

I don’t recall any restrictions, went back to work next day at 01:30 am doing normal tasks, lifting and everything. No issues. Correction, wasn’t supposed to drive for a week, but driving was part of my work….. What they didn’t know didn’t hurt them or me bolt

The scheduling lady said no strenuous activity or lifting over 20 lbs for a week. I personally won't be shooting anything with recoil for a little while.

You don't want to do anything that will cause pressure in your eyes, bending over, lifting, don't rub your eyes. I drove to work next day but it is a 5 mile drive
through the neighborhood to my office. You will want sunglasses for sure.
