South Vietnam takes bank fraud a lot more serious than the rest of the world. The 67-year-old chair of the real estate company Van Thinh Phat was formally charged with fraud amounting to $12.5 billion — nearly 3% of the country’s 2022 GDP.

my MIL's best friend is in jail there for fraud. been there for at least 15 years. the jails there are horrible.

He should be hanged. Anybody steals 12 billion should be tarred and feathered, beaten, and dragged through the street, then literally crucified. Not for his punishment but to deter that kind of crime. “White collar” my ***. Worst kind of evil.
I wonder how many people’s lives were destroyed to steal $12.5 billion.
