Wings over cowtown is going on saturday and sunday at Carswell (yes, I know, but it will always be carswell to me). The blue angels will be performing. Get to see most of the show from my front yard. if you've never been it's a lot of fun!

Bob, did you work on or with them back in your AF days? I feel like I remember reading that at one point but can’t recall for sure.

I have refueled them many, many times. they hold more than you could imagine. They shipped all our birds to Barksdale when Carswell closed. they existed 20 years before I joined an now 35 years after I got out. what a legacy!

Awesome stuff - thx for sharing! I saw one fly over Texas motor speedway several years ago, and I got to see a few older ones up close at Pima back in 2022. Awesome birds for sure.

Thats's Awesome bigbob, when I was kid, I'd go visit my older brothers at TCU and we would go sit by the storage buildings by the Farmers Market on the south end of the runway and watch the B-52's come and go. I'lll always remember the whine of those jet engines was the first thing you could hear.

I miss the Buffs. I distinctly remember 'feeling' them fly over and running up that big spiral ramp in the middle of Ridgmar Mall to try to see them through the glass atrium. Also remember how the doors and windows at Toys R Us would rattle. It was an incredible treat to get to watch them come in and leave as a kid in the early 80s. The image of being westbound on I-30 and getting to see one land right as the sun was setting will never leave my mind's eye. She seemed huge and just hanging right above the highway; that long profile sillhoutted against an orange sky and trailing smoke from all 8 of those engines was a sight to behold. Must've been 1985 or '86 as I was old enough to remember seeing such things.

Its a different rumble out here in Abilene with the Dyess B-1s, but one that captivates my little guys in the same way Buff got me nonetheless.
