Working with a nutritionist while starting on Munjaro. Any of my chunky brothers tried this? MUCH cheaper than the Ozempic as my insurance will not cover Ozempic since I don't have diabetes.

My question is what type of diet plan are you following? Healthy low carb as usual?

I eat twice a day; lightly. I walk a mile per day, sometimes 2, and can’t lose weight. I’m 6 ft tall and weigh 212.

Avoid high fat and spicy foods. You need a lot of fiber as well. It may take you some time to figure out the best dosage for your body.

The weight will come back when you get off, unless you can keep a very strict diet and lifestyle change. Most can’t or don’t

It isn’t something you just stop taking. Good luck with this, I worry about what might happen with this one. It is a serious drug.

So serious i honestly think you’d literally be better off on steroids and growth hormone. No joke. These new drugs they come out with are scary

I just saw your ozempic thread. I seriously think you ought to visit an anti-agong clinic and look into HRT with testosterone and HGH. You can probably afford it.

Then get a trainer and hit the weights with zeal. It will be a fun ride.

Good luck Buzz. If it’s anything like Ozempic, it’s hard on your pancreas.

The stuff works, but make sure you’re getting plenty of protein. I went through a round of Mounjaro. It’s tough, but you HAVE to get the protein numbers in or you’ll lose as much muscle as fat.

Im having to kinda force myself to eat more of anything. Its crazy how this drug works.

Yes, it's just another tool.

Yes, any drug can have its downsides.

I am working with a doctor for mine and see a therapist twice a month concentrating on how I can continue this eating lifestyle after I'm done. For me this is the hard part, cuz I LOVE food, or I did.

Anyone remember Phen Phen? That stuff worked very well too until it was banned because of discovered problems.

yep, did both of them in the 90's when it was all the rage. Lost an S-load of weight. Then word came down it could screw with your heart. I went for my first echo cardiogram after that, no problems.

Phentermine is prescribed now for weight loss. The good half of Phen-Phen.

I took it too. Also went to a "nutritionist" that asked me what my biggest food downfall was? Told him Cheetos. He said bring him a bag on the next meeting. I did, and he took them and made a concoction that, upon placing a few drops under the tongue, would make that craving go away. All hogwash!

It has worked great for me, down 75#, with minimal side effects. I think the insulin spike control is behind it all. The big thing it did for me was control impulsive behavior. I got my fair share of addiction in the family so it's no surprise. I don't crave between meal snacks like chips and dips or wanting to drink randomly during the week. Portion size at meals hasn't changed much, but zero snacking now. I've never been a daily drinker... more of a weekend warrior, but when I did I was that guy that never stopped at a couple. If I'm having one, I'm having 12+. I'm happy with a couple beers now.

Other odd things. Before I lost a single pound, I immediately stopped snoring. I have no idea how that is correlated. It is hard on your pancreas so drinking heavily is not an option. I have had to cut my spicy food level cuz it would cause heartburn, but I was kinda over the top on that. Serranos on everything basically. I've had no constipation, but I know that can happen cuz of how it slows gastric emptying, which helps keep you full longer. I do have to eat a higher ratio of protein and even then I have lost some muscle and strength, but that goes along with every rapid weight loss. It's being studied for all kinds of things from treating addiction to kidney issues.

I'm on a maintenance dose from a compounding pharmacy now. So far so good. It ain't cheap, but I save about the same amount by not going out to eat 3 times a week.

In my case the benefits outweigh the risks. Good luck Buzz!

100%

My wife took monjuro after a year of gut health adjustments. She lost 35 pounds but that started with the gut health transformation. She lost muscle because of the lack of protein. She wishes she knew then what she does now. Everyone that asks, she preaches about the protein.

She was on the shots for 6 months and has been off them for almost a year and has maintained her weight without an issue.

I have been wrong before but pretty sure the FDA made HGH illegal a few years back.

I am a believer in the HRT for both men and women if it is monitored and supplemented correctly but I don’t see it as a weight loss alternative without a more extreme lifestyle change than is required with monjuro.

That's great Buzz. Any noticeable side effects after increasing your dosage?

Lost 3 more lbs. Yes, Constipation. I'm daily dosing with Meta Mucil. I got a balance now, so it doesn't "brick" up. flush

Biggest thing is I've lost pretty much all my love for food.

I'm talking with my fat shrink on a maintenance plan when I reach or get close to my goal. I would like to get below 220.

Constipation means a lack of fluid, so you may want to increase your water intake (half your body weight in ounces a day, so a 100 pound person would drink 50 ounces of water a day). You may also try drinking prune juice (I do about 8 ounces 3 to 4 hours before bed...because you want to be awake when it hits) to help move things along.
