I just learned Stapleton is sober, so why would you take his stamp of approval on such things.

I may be on your same profile. Don’t care for makers mark. Will try larceny.

I’m not big on the proof.

Benchmark is worth a try Roll Tide, I have all six variations if you would like to try them. The standard offering is in almost every liquor store. I like all of them, top floor has been reviewed as close to Buffalo Trace but, they have a 90 proof offering and that’s what I believe you’re looking for….

I usually pick up Buffalo Trace any time I see it (if I don't already have a backup to the one that is opened), but here are the following bourbons that I enjoy and can find almost anywhere:

Woodford Reserve Double Naked
Bowman Small Batch
Wild Turkey Rare Breed
Early Times Bottled in Bond
Very Old Barton 100 Proof (news flash, it isn't that old, but still tasty and cheap)
Old Forester 1920
Old Forester 1910

Agree with those two and add Rowan's Creek.

Thank you Lefty. You are always very hospitable. I don’t have a real deep taste or knowledge. Just like the “spice” type flavor of Buffalo trace. Elijah Craig is smooth to me.

I will certainly try benchmark and larceny. Can’t find BT anyway.
The guy recommended Broken Thorn, it’s not bad at all.

If you’re going to buy Rowan’s creek I suggest stepping up to Noah’s Mill. Noah’s Mill is my absolute favorite whiskey and you can just proof it down from the 115 mark to where you’re comfortable, these two are the same whiskey just at different proofs. A warning however, Willet gets a lot of hate in the whiskey community.

Roll where do you live? I’ve got some extra BT that I don’t mind parting with. I don’t drink near what I used to so I could spare a couple bottles. I might even have an extra barrel pick.

Got to sample 4 different single barrels of Buffalo Trace and picked a great barrel, also got a VIP tour with Freddie Johnson. Pretty incredible morning

Went back to looking for Buffalo trace. Guy recommended Broken Thorn. It’s ok.
I could stick with it for a few months.

Any others with a similar profile?

Not sure of profiles and I guess I am not that sophiscated. I drink what my tastes like .

I've been on a Four Roses Single Barrel kick for a couple of years now. Goes down easy and smooth with a real nice finish. Interesting how there is a huge range of individualized tastes when it comes to bourbon. I'll just recommend it and as usual YMMV.

I am also looking at price along with the flavor, I can get a half gallon of Larceny for about 45 bucks. A half gallon for a smooth tasting whiskey at a very reasonable price without having to chase the Manager of the store down to find out what he/she has in back at twice the cost for half amount of the volume.
