Putting lights in my shop and carport and lean-to. Want something indoor/outdoor rated and surface mounted not suspended. Hope to use LED and y’all know me cost matters. 14-foot wall height. Found some “UFO” style lights I’m considering but wanted to see if the braintrust had better ideas.

Thanks

I had the UFOs put in my office when it was built. 3,000 sf with 3 down the middle and 2 smaller UFOs on the side over a work area. Plenty bright

I put 4 UFOs at 16 ft tall in a 40' x 30' shop. Plenty of light.

Shop is 25x30 carport is 25x25 and lean-to is 14x30. Was going to put 4 in shop and 2 each under carport and lean-to.

Y’all been happy with the UFO’s?

They have been great. At home I have the fluorescent high bays in the shop and garage and have pendant fixtures with LED bulbs on the carport. The UFOs put off more light per fixture than the others I have.

I've been buying LED lighting from 1000Bulbs.com , they have been good so far.

I looked at a number of shops before building mine.
The UFO lights provide lots of light, but I found it to me more shadowy than strip lighting...meaning illumination takes a big hit anytime you shade the nearest light overhead.

I felt that 4' LED strips running down every other roof perlin provided more uninform light, with less shadows. I ran a little extra wiring and have four of the 4' strips on a sperate switch for "walking around" light.

We all need to practice Whoa more.

We need to know the height. Height is equally as important as size of the space. 10-12 feet ceiling height is when lighting styles need to change for best results

I put it in first post, but it’s 14-wall. The UFO lights I have read about have recommendations for varying roof height.

I ran 9 of these high bay lights, not UFO style, but they produce an incredible amount of light. I have 3 wired per switch so I can get light where I need it or only run the center 3 if so desired. Shop is 30x40 with 19 foot center height.

I’ll have to check and see where I bought them from. I believe they ran about $2000 delivered

I have 6 UFO's in my shop, one in center of mancave along with lights from ceiling fans and 2 UFO's in my new 25'x22' tractor barn. All locations are bright enough to do surgery under. UFO's for the win!
Ceilings in shop & mancave is 14', tractor barn is 12'.
Check Amazon mine were around $50.00.

Those are good lights. I have been using them to replace the old T5 lamps in our buildings. I get them at Elliot Electric. I will get a pic tomorrow when in two of our shops.
