Hearing lots of crazy things about this weekend and Monday, our little town of Glen Rose is supposedly going to have around 20k extra people. Notices have gone out to residents to fill your vehicles and stock up on food and water as the area grocery stores won't be able to keep up with the crowds. Area counties and cities to our south have Emergency Mgmt teams are in place and bringing in Nat Guard for support, local gov and schools will be closed on Monday. I-35 south is expected to shutdown as vehicles will just stop to view the eclipse, 281 S will be awful.

We apparently have African royalty here to see it. Crazy

Me, I'm going to hunker down and watch it get dark for a few minutes, rain or shine.

We are supposed to have cloud cover during that time, so it may be a let down in our area.

We have a couple acres and live on 281 in Hamilton....Several people have told me to put up a temporary fence to keep people from parking in our yard.....I believe our schools are shutting down that day as well.....

I would fill up your tanks and groceries and plan on staying home a few days, it's going to be a bit crazy down your way.

Where are all these people coming from? Can't they just look at it from their own house?

Every rural county in the path is predicting 100k-200k people. It’s BS. Like half the US population is coming here for 3 minutes. Not going to happen.

Yeah, hundreds of thousands of people are gonna take off work and drive for hours for something that lasts less than 5 minutes? 'Don't make no sense.

I'm waiting to see what I10 is really gonna be like before I head out. I'm low on cigars (someone keeps smoking them) and all there is some Blue Moon, as far as beer goes. Shoot some pigs. Oh, and spray some mesquite.

Many people want to be in the optimal location, the narrow path of totality.

We’re at Garner State Park. Practically empty today, but almost every TT slab is reserved. Must be for the eclipse. The people already here, many of them have what looks like big telescopes or something big and expensive that you don’t normally take camping. Every building has signs offering eclipse T shirts.

Fredericksburg is already getting somewhat busier than usual. Will be buying our final items tomorrow to finish stocking up so we don't have to get out.

Mrs Smokey mail ordered a couple pairs of eclipse glasses. I told her we could wear welding hoods to which she replied “you are such a bubba”. Women…

The EMC’s are the folks who have created the hype.

Suppose to be an extra 100K here in Marble Falls area I been told, I don't believe it, there isn't enough housing for the locals that live here now...I sure hope that many RVs don't show up. I received an email today from Fredericksburg pushing places to stay for the event, so maybe someone, somewhere over estimated numbers for an event that lasts such a short time.

Maybe so but even a third of those numbers are a big problem

I'll be in Point Venture on Lake Travis, had planned on making a trip up to the Blue Bonnet Cafe in M/F, but sounds like that might be a bad idea with the crowds expected.
