Just ordered and sent paperwork in early Wednesday afternoon. Already got an email that 1 of the 3 suppressors had already been approved by 8:30 this morning!
Crazy fast!

When the system went down a few weeks ago they did something to make individual files suppressors go much faster. They aren't talking a bunch about it but have dribbled out a little data.

I'm a trust guy so mine still sitting in someone's backlog...

Sorry, when you say “approved” does that mean you’re able to pick up your suppressor?

Yes

That means your tax stamp is on its' way to your dealer. Once the tax stamp arrives at the dealer, you can come and take possession of the stamp and the suppressor.

Read an article published somewhere by the ATF, that said they stop sending the background check to the FBI in batches. They used to wait and submit them in large numbers and the FBI took a long time to return them. Now they work the forms in many parallel paths and send them to the FBI as soon as they get them. Don't know if that's the whole deal, but do know when I called about one of mine once, they said it was held up waiting for FBI to finish my background check.

Whatever they did is working. Not typical of the US government...

per ATF if you file individual and provide your ssn on the 4473 it is immedieatly kicked over for the nics check. Supposedely 1RP trusts will be included shortly. Also trusts and individual are all getting batch approvals now if caught in time.

The NFA Branch does their own NICS check.

With e-File you have a copy of the stamp in the email the AFT sends. It means your stamp is at your dealer as well, they get it electronically. They get it in the email, and they have a copy of it in their eforms account. Depending upon your dealer, you can probably head over the moment you get the email from AFT. (my dealer does appointments only to pick up NFA stuff) There is no waiting for the stamp to get to your dealer, that was the old paper days.

So... If a trust then what are the wait times currently? I read through, but did not see any examples.

After eating Payne's sausage I don't know if I can go back to the regular store bought stuff.

Supposedly trusts that are standardized and only have one responsible person will be getting the fast wait times too.

I'm at 155 days on a trust with just me as the responsible person, still waiting. I am hoping they will batch together the 3 cans I have waiting, there were not all purchased at the same time. My son just got a couple of his approved around the 150 day mark on a trust with 1 RP.

In this context, what does "standardized" mean?

I'm not exactly sure, I don't think it has been defined. But Silencer Shop says their One Shot Trusts are as close to standardized as you can get. Hopefully there will become a standardized trust to use that AFT accepts automatically without having a human read it.

First time for me to buy a suppressor, I went through the Silencer Shop and purchased a Sparrow 22. My order has been stuck at "Preparing E forms" for three weeks. I contacted Silencer Shop and was told they are getting back logged with orders, so the wait times has kicked up for first timers. I also contacted the FFL and was told the same thing.

I've got 3 cans waiting in ATF jail for approval on a trust.

Just got one approved this morning. 158 days. Didn't get a batch approval with all three at once.

Got my first approval last month after 151 days for my r9 on a singel shot trust.
Saw all this going on with the fast approvals so I Bought a yhm stinger 22 can. I certified the eform 4 indivual on 4/9 stamp in email 4/15. I was shocked and happy!

Wow, I waited a little over 7 months for my first suppressor I bought back in 2015. Getting a suppressor in under 6 months is amazing!

Are you talking buying an SBR on a Form 4 or making one on a Form 1?

Form 1 making was traditionally faster (around a month), but buying on a Form 4 should be no different than a suppressor. So if you buy as an individual it should be quick.
