your dermatologist tells you he can't find a thing and he'll see you in another year.

Melanoma is one of the most deadly and yet preventable forms of cancer. Do yourself a favor and get checked annually and never ignore something on your skin that doesn't look right.

A few facts...

1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70.

More than 2 people die of skin cancer in the U.S. every hour.

Having 5 or more sunburns doubles your risk for melanoma.

When detected early, the 5-year survival rate for melanoma is 99 percent.

I miss those days. Last month have a whole bunch of pre-cancer stuff frozen off and go back in May for the 2 month check up. I suspect I will be meeting the Liquid N2 again soon.
The part of having 5 or more sunburns worries me as I have hade hundreds of them over my life time.

I get checked annually. Had several minor ones removed.

I am 70 - was a lifeguard back in the day we would literally put baby oil on ourselves to "get a tan" - of course we just got severe sunburns.

I am very careful now and cover up - knock on wood no issues. I get checked every 6 months just to be safe and check myself regularly for anything out of the oridinary - you do not want to mess with melanomas - thanks for the post

5 or more sunburns? I’ve had at least that many to different degrees every year for the past 25!
