Took Yankees starting pitcher 34 pitches and gave up 3 runs in the first inning. Astros up 3-0 after 1 inning.

Yankees hit into inning ending double play with bases loaded twice so far today. Still 4-0 Spacemen.

Went out to check on dogs, come back and Yankees scored 3 and still have bases loaded. Framber had a has walked 5 and hit 1 batter before being lifted today. Astros up 4-3 and Yankees strand the bases loaded in the 5th.

Yankees tie up at 4 with a homer.

Pressly comes in to pitch the 7th, gives up a double to Judge. Astros are missing the setup pitcher Abreau. Serving a 2 game suspension for allegedly intentionally hitting a batter late last season.

Pressly loads the bases, then Judge scores on a fly ball. Visitors go ahead 5-4.

Starting pitching could be the downfall this year. Valdez, Javier, Brown... the back end of the bullpen should be shut down though. Going to have to get leads early and hope to hold on to them.

Thanks Free, been a fan since mid 60’s. Before TV, had to listen on the radio. First game I attended at the Astrodome, Colt .45 stadium was still standing in the parking lot. Saw Nolan Ryan’s first game as an Astro up in the $2 seats. Nolan hit a homer his first at bat with the Astros. And stuck with them through the 3 consecutive seasons of 100+ losses.

Yup. 8th MLB start ever, 1st complete game, 1st shutout, 1st no-no (obviously), earliest season no-no in MLB history, and Espada's first managerial win.

I thought Astros fans were worried about the rotation and they get a no hitter in the first week.

While I think there were questions with the number of injuries, the current rotation has the 2nd lowest ERA in the bigs thus far. It's the bullpen that's been crapping the bed. That and Alvarez and Bregman are ice cold right now too.

It looks like Dana Brown crapped the bed on the Hader deal. Astros do not appear to be playing well for Espada. I’m trying to understand why Espada would move Alvarez from an RBI to a set he table position in the batting order?

However much the new, high dollar reliever is getting paid it’s too much. He’s blown two saves so far.

I think at the end of the day, it comes down to getting your best hitters the most number of at-bats. At this point, I'm not really concerned. A few folks just need to find theselves and their groove. It's only a matter of time... this team is too talented.

I grew up in Corpus Christi, TX a pretty equal fan of both, plus they were in separate leagues, May have even leaned to Stros with Nolan Ryan, JR Richard and Joe "Sambo" Sambito out of the pen, Enos Cabell, Doran, Ashby and the guys in field, later Biggio, Bagwell, Caminiti, Bass, Mike Scott and the rest of them. You are correct, Stros rebuilt and struggled in early teens and Rangers for a few years before last. All cyclical as most sports; just looks like age is catching up with Abreu, Pressly and a few others, not named Altuve. Lol

The Astros were the worst team in the National League for most of any decade they played. They then had a short run with now dead druggies when they were wearing cream and crimson (much like OU). They moved and sucked again until they cheated. The got CAUGHT cheating but kept cheating. Then they swapped managers to another cheater (he did so in the 2023 ALCS) and when that didn't work, he retired. Take the brag medicine Astros fans deserve and be quiet until you win at least three games...wait..four because it took a no-no to win one of the two.

Not sure why they brought him up. Maybe due to different rotation and days of rest of others. But he had a 5+ ERA in AAA and supposedly didn't do very good when he was in AA either. Hopefully they send him back down and can get some of his issues worked out.

I tell you…what’s happening to pitchers (aces) is pretty alarming. The Astros and Rangers have (if you count Valdez) 8 starters on IL.

Not to mention aces for Cleveland, Atlanta, Yankees and others out for the season, ot at least a good part of it.

My thought is starting kids too young. I have a nephew that didn’t make it to HS ball due to being pushed too hard, too young. Some young pitchers getting Tommy John surgery, not. Really needing it yet.
And Verlander is just too old to be out there, in my opinion. But if someone offered me that kind of money, I’d take the money and try to pitch longer.
