…so don’t bother me. I stayed up until 1, this morning, expecting to be on night shift. I was called four hours later with a request to briskly change that to right now, instead. Sure, why not? I don’t have anything better to do. So, I worked all day and will be off for about 24 hours and actually, probably, be on nights. It was no problem, but I do intend to sleep in as late as possible, and I will most definitely not feel bad about it.

I had 25 years of that. I remember one stretch of 18 on and 6 off for 3 weeks with no days off. It sucked but it did pay well.

Yes sir. That’s why we do it. I’m on a 5 week stretch, and I’m glad to have it.

I don't miss those days except the paychecks ...

I took a 40% pay cut to not live in a pickup! Home every night, weekends and holidays off….probably added 10 years to my life!

If I had kept it up at the pace I was going don’t figure I’d have lived to draw my first retirement check

I feel your pain. I worked deep nights for 14 years so that we didn't have to put our sons in daycare and I could attend all of their school and sports activities. However, I haven't worked nights since 2005 and I'm still tired.

That was a huge sacrifice. You are a heck of a Dad to do that.

Had a few rotating scheduled jobs early in my career and I don't do well working nights, it's not for me. Most of it was traveling on airplanes, staying in hotels and trying to sleep during the day.
