Simple answer - go where the experts are. Rimfire Central (follow the link below). Rimfire Central - Winchester 52 SubforumThe next important step is to identify what model of Win. 52 that you have. There are some differences between different models and production years. If you don't already know model 52 variant you have then I'm sure there is a "sticky" that will help you identify it on their website. .

Thanks for the link SP.
Have determined that the rifle is the C variation and was made in 1961 (not sure how I came up with 1937, must have transcribed a number(s) wrong).
Has several open sights (setups) with one being a Lyman.
Still trying to find out more about the stock configuration.
What's considered "good" 22 ammo? I understand it might shoot one brand better than another, but what's a couple "good" brands to start with?
Thanks

What a treasure!! You can key it into YouTube and see what others have found the best ammo is. I would venture to say look for Lapua Center-X, SK Rifle Match, Eley match.
KSS.com, Bullet Central, Precision Reloaders are a few places to look for ammo. There are many others. Most will be out of stock.
Locally, I'm not sure where you can find .22lr match ammo. You can try CCI Standard Velocity, its fairly easy to find around town.

Buzz nailed all the top target brand ammo. For off the shelf CCI 40 gr. Volocity ammo shoots good also but is more of a hunting round.
