Dolly's version was the last song my Mother sang to me right before she died in 1986. To this day I can't listen to it.

Two totally different styles and voice inflections. Normally I would choose old school and go with Dolly, but I loved them both

Vocally, it’s like comparing George Jones to Michael Bolton.
However, Dolly’s version is so different it’s like a different song.

I will listen to either one of them anytime - in todays world the only one that comes closest to them IMO is Carrie Underwood - listen to this - if you are not moved by this you are not alive - for me the greatest song I have ever heard and notice the worlds top performers are in the audience and crying and standing up for her performance https://youtu.be/IJ12Fd0AlAw?si=ABU2A96AxkFyzL9d
